Week 1 matchup: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders
PUBLISHED 5 hours and 26 minutes ago

How healthy are the Cowboys? Dallas had a bad preseason. It looked nothing like a serious contender. Injuries had to play a part. Right tackle Marc Colombo (knee) and wide receiver Dez Bryant (ankle) should be ready for the opener; left guard Kyle Kosier (knee) won’t. He might be the only player sidelined.

Bottom line

The Cowboys have an explosive offense, but the Commanders can confuse QB Tony Romo with different looks. Dallas’ defense will make the difference in the opener, especially with McNabb (sprained ankle) still working on his timing with his receivers. Cowboys 20, Commanders 17.

I'm hoping Jay Ratliff owns Casey Rabach like he has the past three meetings. And I'm hoping Sensabaugh deletes Chris Cooley from the action. It was nice to not have to face him at all last year. I wonder if he makes a difference for the Commanders.

Notice how when they pick scores, it's always just the point spread from the line?

Sporting News

Three story lines

Debuts in D.C. The Commanders will unveil their latest big offseason acquisitions Sunday. These two are bigger than most, given Shanahan’s and McNabb’s resumes. Their arrivals have boosted the players’ confidence higher than at any time in the Dan Snyder era in Washington.

cotton picking sporting news, they stole my thunder of what i was going to post this morning, shoot, back to ole drawing board, :banghead:

Not to be too obvious here, but the key for the Cowboys is the running game. The Commanders' running defense has looked horrible thus far (albeit in preseason).

Dez Bryant hype notwithstanding, I think the passing game will have to take a back seat while the Cowboys O-Line gets healthy.

I think the gameplan for the Skins is simple. Follwing through with it is a different story.

1, Get a lead early
2. play ball control offense with runs and short passes
3. No turnovers on offense.

I really think getting the lead early is key. If they do this and can keep the ball then there hope would be dallas starts pressing and may be more likely to make mistakes.

After watching the high profile college games this weekend, I expect a game with a lot of change in momentum. I don't expect a cake walk. I expect a back and forth game.

I expect a low scoring game, at least in the 1st half. Both teams uncertain [at least according to us fans] of what to expect. Not just from each other, but from within their own team. Due mostly to injuries and lack of cohesiveness during training camp.

Dallas will eventually take control, as they will make the proper adjustments first. Based on experience, as oppsoed to new coaching staff, scemes in place for Washington.

I think the key to both teams is the play of both OL's. As it usualy is, but moreso in this game, being the opener.
