Tucker/Pettiti Trouble

I think Tucker/Pettiti are good tackles.

I think Tucker has filled in admirably for Adams and Pettiti has to be better than him or he wouldn't have beat him out in TC. The holding penalties and false starts have dropped considerably the last couple of games and that's called progress in my book. I'm more worried about Johnson getting better each game than our tackles, who are getting better IMO.

:starspin

I don't see where this is a real slam on Tucker and Pettiti. Pettiti is a rookie and doing a good job under the circumstances but he has a lot to learn. He will be a lot better next year. Tucker is playing a brand new position and will be challenged. They will both need some help. What do you expect from a rookie and a guy playing our of position against probowlers?

There will be enough pressure on Bledsoe he could easily throw another pick for a td or fumble and turn the ball over. They kept pressure on Hasselback and forced him into mistakes and he is a lot more mobile than Bledsoe.

Do I think, like some, that we will roll over the Giants? No.

Do I think that we will roll over and be blown out? No.

Do I think we will win? Yes. In spite of all the mismatches and negatives, I think that Parcells will minimize the mismatches and it will be close, one way or the other, at the end of the game.

Uminora (i have no idea to spell it) is manhandling Walter Jones today... Tucker is in for a long day and so is Bledsoe. Tucker and Pettiti simply do not match up against the Giants DE's..... we will have to max protect all day long.... I think we are in BIG trouble. :bang2:
It will be a huge struggle if we continue with trouble running the ball. Tucker nor Pettitti can handle Strayhan or Uminora? 1-1. Even if you use an extra TE/FB and RB to help both sides, any blitz at all will kill Bledsoe.

It's going to be a sure fire offensive struggle...count on it. The defense will have to play great for us to win this game.

In the other post on the article by Vela he says, and makes a convincing argument that at least Tucker, if not Petitti and Johnson had decent games. But the guy doesn't just spout off about it... he brings some wood for the fire.

For you folks that say Tucker, Pettiti and Johnson sucked against Denver, load your weapons and let's see what you've got. Vela at least sounds like he watches these games repeatedly and takes notes, he doesn't just sit there with a beer in his hand and from one play judge that player "XYZ" sucked.

It's alot easier to chug Budweisers and ramble on about how much our Oline sucks and our Center watches guys run by (ever heard of pulling?) without providing ANY evidence to back up their ridiculous claims.

Yep.

Vela provides the answers on why our running game sucked versus Denver... Our tightends and fullback failed repeatedly to cut off the backside pursuit.

Wasn't even the oline.

You know, I'm really curious what the purpose of posts like this & the "Petitti sucks" thread serve--other than deliberately to make Pittdawg & Robsaunt to feel bad. I mean, seriously, do you think they're going to call Rob & tell him this crap that's being posted? Frankly, I'm amazed they even bother to still visit here. Hopefully it makes you feel better, because it certainly doesn't seem to serve any other useful or informative purpose.
Sorry but this is the dumbest post I've read in a long time. There was nothing insulting in this post towards Petitti. If anything, you've been exposed as being overly sensitive and perhaps a bit of a suckup (it's like you're angling for a mention at the next Petitti family barbecue.) A post talking about a potential matchup problem for us seems to serve a very useful, and obvious, function on a CHAT board.

By the way, this is Jem88's 1000 post. Let's hear it for one of the most insightful, intelligent, sensitive, provocative and beloved posters here at Cowboyszone! Here's to the next 1000!

Gratz :)

Umenyiora was a nuisance, but Walter Jones did fine for the most part. Aikman credited Umenyiora incorrectly for beating Jones on his first sack. Umenyiora stunted inside that it was either the Center or Right Guard's responsibility.

That being said, Jones has outright dominated everybody and for him to cause Jones some trouble, doesn't look great for Dallas.

Rich......

One possible solution. No huddle offense using the shotgun.

Quick pitch outs to the running backs. Have Keyshawn, Campbell and Witten crack back on the ends. The running backs have the speed to get to the outside. It will slow down the pass rush.

True, but they lost to Seattle who has better OTs than us. Hasselbeck is good at getting the ball out and is quite mobile. They also have Alexander running the ball to deep the defense honest.

We will not be able to consistently keep Bledsoe clean without doubling both of their DEs and that will limit the number of receivers we get out into patterns.

If we win this game it will be because of a great performance on defense, beating the Giants for some big plays downfield against their suspect secondary and establishing a running game.
I agree... Except that I hold out hope that one of these weeks both Barber and Julius will really be on their game at the same time, and our running game will be able to dominate the game. Maybe this week?

I think this will be a close game. If we lose it will be because of our OL. I think the NY Giants DEs are gonna completely own Tucker and Pettiti.

If the Giants win this game I expect Coughlin to give our OL the game ball. They will be the MVPs of the game for the Giants.
