TUNA DISSED TAYLOR
Posted by Mike Florio on April 28, 2008, 8:18 p.m.
The South Florida soap opera is getting good.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald (via Sports By Brooks) reports that Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor recently was visiting with teammates at the facility, where they have been working out in preparation for the 2008 season without Taylor, who is participating in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

Taylor thereafter decided to drop in on V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells. Writes Salguero: “Taylor walked into a room where Parcells was watching tape, and Parcells ignored him. He looked at Taylor and went back to his work without saying a word.”

Ouch.

Taylor was reportedly “incensed” by the gesture. But probably not nearly as incensed as Parcells was when he learned that Taylor was trying to revise Parcells’ signature “This is why you lift all those weights” line into something more like, “This is why you do all those splits.”

Without question, Parcells hates the fact that Taylor isn’t working out with the team. The fact that Taylor’s distraction is a freaking dancing contest surely makes it even worse for the old-school Parcells.

To date, this saga has been publicly tame. It soon will be getting ugly, we think.

I have said it many times. Taylor has ripped parcells a number of times. I remember him in the locker room after they beat us in 03 on turkey day saying F parcells and F tuna and all his BS.

Then he said something similar to reporters after. Sorry I cant find the evidence of this, it is in my head I just never forgot it because it ticked me off.

So I am not so sure they ever planned on being great buddies.

Taylor has been a star in Miami and has been rewarded for his
achievements very well. His days are numbered if only for father time
is creeping up on him.One way or another he'll be out of Miami and
ultimately football. The fans will still be rooting for their team and that's
where Bill Parcells becomes what is important for the team.Love him or hate
him,he rebuilds teams. The billionaire owner calls on him to turn their franchise
around and he will completely overhaul that team and he will give the fans
a competitive team for being there. So who is more important.

Tuna is right here -

Taylor should not be dancing on TV but busting *** in offseason workouts and getting with new coaches. Miami is not his #1 priority - clearly

Does Taylor needs to prove he can play?

You should know by now Parcells doesn't respect anyone he didn't draft himself 15 years ago.

If Parcells believes Taylor poses any threat to his ability to run the team as he sees fit, Taylor will be somewhere else when the season starts - just like Emmitt.

The difference being that Emmitt did not have a contract with Dallas when Parcells joined the Cowboys. They had to make a decision on whether to re-sign Emmitt or just let him walk. And Emmitt wanted a lot of money, which you don't usually give to a running back with that much wear and tear. Taylor is still under contract with the Dolphins. Parcells has to either cut him or trade him if he doesn't want him.

Agreed, but Jerruh has yet to let money get in the way of something he wants. If he wanted Emmitt here, Emmitt would have stayed. He wanted Parcells more.

It happens all the time in every profession when new management arrives. The remaining people with power, titular or referent, either pledge allegiance or disappear.

Given the way teams went goofy in the draft (e.g. Jacksonville), it won't be hard to unload Taylor if he wants. He just has to lower his price a little, tell everyone what a great guy Taylor is, and say he wanted him to have a better chance to compete for a SuperBowl.

Funny thing about BP and the Dolphins...who is the head coach of the team? It will be interesting when the season starts. Do you think they will be talking about Bill or Tony? I highly doubt that if they do have any success as an organization, Bill is going to get the credit. And if you think Jerry is a meddling, just wait and see if BP hits the sidelines...

The only time you will ever see Parcells on the Sidelines is after his team wins the Super Bowl. He is an old school football coach and won't do that to Ireland's head coach.

First rule of fight club is to break the locker room. No questions asked. Ireland and Soprano were lucky they got to sit in the war room.

I cannot believe that anyone would be surprised by this after the years Bill was here.
