Turner and Cottrell, OR Phillips and Garrett?

So, Dallas ended up with Phillips as the HC who will run the defense and Garrett as the OC who will run the offense. But what if you could chose to switch it to having Turner as Dallas' HC to run the offense, and Cottrell as DC to run the defense. Would you make that switch RIGHT NOW, if you could? Why or why not?

Yes, but let me ask you this.

How many threads questioning the coaching process has he started?

Therein lies the difference.

I'd keep Phillips. I like what Phillips is putting together in Dallas and think his personality will fit in very well with the players we have. I also like what I have seen from his past defense. I think Turner is a good coach but I'm more than happy with the selection Jones made.

Wade, easy choice.

The guy knows the 3-4 better than anyone else and thats what we are running.

The offense put up big numbers and that was being conservative.

Fix whats broke, not vice versa.

Thnaks for a well thought out reply. However I'm still skeptical of Phillips/Garrett. Don't get me wrong, I'm okay with Phillips running the defense, but as a HC I think he will have similar defficiencies just as Turner would. So I would take either one as HC.

With Turner/Cootrell, we'd have proven offensive and defensive coaches in place. With Phillips/Garrett we have a proven defensive mind and a non-experienced coach on offense. Noe the typicall rebuttal would be to bring up Sporano, but I'm not sold on the guy because, while we had a good offense under hin statistically, we never ran the right offensve game plans.

Sporano loves to use the pass to set up the run and we sHOuld be doing the opposite. All too often we would go to third and long after failed passes on first and second down. That needs to change because we can't conmtinually rely on Tony Romo's heroics to make the numbers look good and a bad game plan tolerable. With Garret as OC wer'e stuck with Sporano's game plans. And in that light I'd take Turner over Sporano/Garrett any day of the week.

I have nothing against Turner but when both he and Phillips were interview I said at the time I would go with Phillips and I have not changed my mine. I also like the assistant coaches I'm seeing that we have brought in and I think the chances of Phillips forming a relationship with TO is better than Turner. As for Garrett he learned allot from Turner as well as working a season with Peyton when he was with the Giants. I have always felt that Garrett was a real football guy and I'm glad it is the Cowboys who are giving him his chance to show his real talent and that in my opinion is an offensive coach.
