The Cowboys are tied with the Giants and Cardinals for 25th in turnover ratio. -3 for the season. At the current pace, they will finish -9.6. Marinelli's stated goal of 40 turnovers will be missed by about -27.

Turnover ratio is one of the biggest indicators of a team's success. (Atlanta and Carolina are currently defying the odds. They are both behind the Cowboys in this category and have each only lost one game.)

If you lose the turnover battle you usually lose the game. Granted five games may not be enough to extrapolate and make season predictions, but this trend must be reversed if the Cowboys hope to make the post-season.

This is a huge concern. I do not understand why this team struggles so much in this area. Not only do we not generate turnovers-- we don't get "lucky" ones either lol. No tipped passes or "T-Will specials" where we get a pick off a WR's drop.

We are terrible at recovering fumbles too. I know Rod and the team focus on this area... but for whatever reason our defense and STs don't often help us out with field position or points.

Missed it by "thatmuch".

You will never have a good ratio if your defense can't turn the ball over.

This has been a problem for a decade, with very few exceptions.

We haven't gotten a TO in so long , I'm scared I will forget how to react.

lol, and that very issue has been talked to be the very issue addressed for the past five seasons.

Wonder when people will be held to use technique beyond training camp environment?

Good afternoon, Cooter...still love my Cowboys. Even if they create their own disadvantages.

The Goff fumble early in the 3rd quarter should have been an easy recovery. Who knows how that game would have turned out if we recover that ball and score.

But the defensive players just look so unaware you just sometimes wonder where their minds are.

Too right... So frustrating when they make everything so difficult for themselves lol

I think sometimes their minds are prematurely on how they are going to celebrate the play. I have seen DLmen dance and celebrate a sack when the ball was still bouncing around on the turf.

Hey CC, yep, I'm still hoping they will turn it around.

In today's society, celebration is about all that's going on...despite directions. It takes tragedy to get a non individually motivated response for way too many people.

The Dallas defense has 3 lousy turnovers on the season, and one was a meaningless interception is trash time.

An old cheer:

Pork chop, pork chop, greasy, greasy...
Look at the score board,
We can beat you, easy, easy.

Our bend don't break scheme allows opponents to catch the ball and we rally to tackle over and over until they make a mistake. So we're hoping they screw up rather than forcing the issue. It's been this way since forever. Unless your team is stripping the ball constantly (right now we can't even tackle so they're not trying to rip ball out), it will have negative turnover ratios like this. Lucky for them Dak isn't a turnover machine
