The lack of turnovers are killing us right now. You would think this would be obvious, but with many posts here, it seems this is being downplayed. So, let's take a deeper look into this.

Through 7 games this year, we have one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The only other team in the league with only one forced fumble this year is Chicago Bears, with Baltimore Ravens and 49ers with 2. That's not good company. Every other team in the league has 4 or more forced fumbles. You then add in the fact we only have 3 INTs on the season, which ties us with the Jaguars, Seahawks, Ravens, and Commanders. The season as a whole, we have 4 turnovers which ties us with Baltimore Ravens who has one win on the season.

This is absolutely pathetic. You then factor in that we are in the lower half of the league when it comes to sacks and pass deflections and it gives you a better picture of how underwhelming this team is playing in nearly every single category.

This directly falls on Marinelli. We brought him in because he puts a supposed emphasis on turnovers and tackling, he is failing. Even when Romo gets back and our turnover statistics stay the same, this team will struggle.

Offenses play very conservatively against the Cowboys because they are not worried the Cowboys offense.

Yep. If we had a compatent offense that could actually I don't know score some touchdowns and put pressure on teams we'd probably see some more turnovers.

Still the defense has given up two combined TD's the last two weeks and yet they're the problem?

Yeah, except this isn't the truth. Falcons were in comeback mode against us, 0 turnovers. Drew Brees had a banged up shoulder, threw two passes directly to our defensive players, no turnovers. We're not sacking the QB enough to force offenses in 2nd and third and longs upping the chance of a bad decision, we're not stripping balls from RBs, we're not taking advantage of tipped passes outside of the one created by Greg Hardy.

1 turnover in 5 games is inexcusable. Spinning it like it's on the offense is absurd.

"In our system, that is the No. 1 stat," Marinelli said. "So far we are getting a D. ... To win in this league, you got to cash in on those. They know that. And we are working hard at it. I just keep digging at it, just keep pushing it, and it will happen."

Nice little quote from Marinelli. The No. 1 focus on our defense, and we are tied for dead last in the category. The spinning to keep this guy as an untouchable with criticism is hilarious.

I think X is partly right, but so are you. They've had numerous chances at interceptions and haven't capitalized on them. Just last week Church could have ended the game on that last drive, but dropped the ball. They have to start converting the opportunities they are getting. Also, hopefully those opportunities increase when Romo gets back and teams know 14 points isn't enough to beat us.

He is definitely deserving of criticism, but the D has kept them in the last two games, turnovers or not, and the offense couldn't punch it in. Just like people don't have to take chances against our defense due to our offense, our defense doesn't get to take chances, due to our offense. We can't dial up the blitzes now, because if we get burned for a TD, there is no faith we will be able to score and match that.

When people are up in arms because your DE who just made one of the most athletic plays you'll ever see, doesn't score a TD. You know exactly where the issue lies.

This is silly. The defense just isn't playing physical ball right now. They're not swarming to the ball and they're not going for strips like they were the last 2 seasons. Also the safeties are slow to the ball, Lee doesn't look like himself, and this dline rarely ever goes for deflections (exception Hardy). It also doesn't help that Carr plays with the confidence of a rookie 7th round pick.

None of the coaches on this staff should be untouchable, Garrett and Marinelli deserve all the criticism theyre getting right now.

This is ludicrous.

We were #2 in TO last yr with 31. Same coach. Is he infallible? No. But having a lynch mob calling for his head because Marinelli can't generate TO this year is ridiculous.

I may agree with you if we have poor results in TO under Marinelli every year but that's clearly not the case.

Wait, wait - so it's ludicrous to call out Marinelli or ask for his head, but the Jason Garrett lynch mob gets a pass?

He's had one season of relative success, he was also part of the 2013 disaster.

This is only regarding Marinelli and turnover number that's it.

Yes. Were you?

Yeah, I was here reading and posting while we were signing any warm body, like Everette Brown and Marvin Austin, to come in because of injuries. All the while moving from a 3-4 to a 4-3.

We had something like 20 different DL play that year and I'd be surprised if half are even in the NFL now. Spencer was also on IR, and we had some other guys banged up. Our secondary was also nothing to brag about.

We might have had the worst personnel in the NFL on defense in that year, in particular the DL and front 7.

No amount of coaching is going to help pizza delivery guys compete with real NFL players.

Although he basically did it last year as far as turnovers with the rag tag pass rush and secondary he was working with.

And yet, here we are, with more talent and he's still failing in important categories.

The biggest problem is that the teams are afraid of our pass rush (especially after the NE game and the adjustments they made in second half), so now all of them are passing the ball immediately, so the pass rush can't get there, but for some reason we haven't countered it and teams are still getting first downs with some consistency. We've been a bend-don't-break defence, and that has limited the big scoring plays, problem is if we're not in tight man coverage which would make the qb hold the ball a second longer and allow the pass rush to get there, then the qb's won't have to make tough throws which could lead to picks, they'll just throw to slants and screens all day long

We talk about turnovers and criticize the defense for it in just about every thread.
