Why hasnt this been talked about?

Well I know why, but lets give it a shot.

Looks like they have a real plan to get him involved on offense more. Along with getting legit WR looks, seems we may have a few more gadget type plays with him.

I personally think this could be a breakout type year for him offensively. It would be nice if he could grow into being a Cooks lite type guy. Would be very helpful for us down the road.

I remember they tried this with Tavon Austin the WR and it went nowhere. But that was Moore so.
Austin was hard to figure out. The Rams tried for years to get him involved. I just dont think he was a very good WR.

People may forget, but Turpin was the USFL MVP last year. That was for what he did as WR.

Can’t blame the Cowboys for trying that with him, because he scored 9 TDs with the Rams from the RB position. He did score one TD at RB with us.

No way they’re using Turpin as an RB unless it’s some sort of gadget play.
Of course it will be gadget type plays.

But if he can get real looks at WR and be productive, it makes running those gadget plays easier.

Last year, no one respected him as a WR and most of the times he went in, it was to run or fake some gadget play. Super sneaky on Moores part.

I have no expectations for Turpin. Now that we drafted Deuce, I’m not even sure he’s the best returner on the team. Seems like he’s a bit overhyped in Cowboys country for what he actually brings to the football field.

Wow. The irony.

The only thing I want to see Turpin do out of the backfield is for screens. That's it. No way they should be asking him to run the ball.

If he's been lined as a RB, its' very likely some kind of misdirection gadget play

- speaking of which I do expect to see some Jet sweeps from Lucky ... er I mean Turpin .. :muttley:

Any WR/RB hybrid will get looks at RB. Even minor on the field position flex is a big advantage. But they have to show some minimum level of competence in the different roles. Hence getting looks.

Cooks and Gallup outside. Ceedee and Turpin in the slots.
Improved screen game. Quicker passes.
Could be a very difficult formation for defenses to cover. Thats a lot of speed to worry about.
And now throw in a wrinkle of Turpin or Lamb lined up in the backfield running against dime defenses.

Absolutely not not even a thought would go into making Turpin and running back you want to use them in some end a rounds and some motion those are considered run plays behind the line of scrimmage, yes

absolutely not as a RB!!

you need to stop hating on deuce Vaughn, deuce Vaughn is that guy, and yet you think he's too small and now you want to bring in Turpin?? you're talking about being a hypocrite!

we have a good running back room right now and we will find a good mix...
Turpin couldn't even catch the damn football without fumbling/bobbling it at the end of last year and already in preseason and you want him to handle the ball more as a running back??

It's a resounding no

as a matter of fact if this dude keeps bobbling the football and fumbling he's going to lose his special teams job to do Vaugn, Fact, he is starting to be shaky he was doing it at the end of last year and now he did it in his first preseason game and we got rid of Brett Maher for doing less and yet Turpin's getting the pass and now you want to add to his workload no just no no no no no

Why?
Right or wrong I consider Turpin a novelty WR suitable for screens and jet sweeps. I don’t want to see him at RB.
First and foremost he needs to hold on to the football if he wants to see the field.

This could be as much about finding a way to justify a roster space for him as it is a way to get him more involved.

I don't think his spot is up for grabs really, but I certainly don't think it's guaranteed. He's not good enough as a returner to get a roster spot if he can't contribute on the offensive side of the ball - and if he's not significantly better at WR than Fehoko and Brooks (who can both play ST, theoretically), it's difficult to justify keeping him.
