Turpin's job is safe, for those who have doubts

I don't get keeping him. His 3 fumbled punts led the league last year. He was middle of the pack (or lower) as returner avg. yards per return - both punts and kickoffs. He caught one pass for nine yards. How does he deserve a roster spot?

Development and potential. Anyone judging a player after only one season in the league aren't really paying attention to how the NFL works.

hes my guy, but why is his job safe? He hasn't done anything much. He fumbled last week. If we have a better option, lets see.

Waste of a roster spot. Bad decisions. Fumbles. So many young WR with more potential on the roster.

tied for 3rd with punt returns over 20 yards

tied for 4th with longest return on the year.

Yes, but his average yards per return sucks (18th/30th), and he fumbles. He will give you a spectacular return, but will also cough up the ball, or make a dumb kick-off decision that puts the team deep in a hole. He won't win you a game, but he could cost you one.

Turpin is 27 years old. I don't think there's much development to be had ... dropoff more likely. Hope I'm wrong but ...

Actually there is a lot. Last year was his first year in the league. Off season reports about him finally figuring out the Cowboys offense and route running all sound positive. It doesn't sound like he will be the same WR we saw last year. If that translates into game days or not we will have to see.

This is from DC.com based on what the coordinators said today.
As they say in the NFL not for long if he keeps bobbling and fumbling balls like he did at the end of last year and then he starts off the first game in preseason the same way that will get you put on the bench especially when you have a guy lurking like jaws you know deuce Vaughn can play special teams deuce Vaughn can catch passes out of the backfield if he keeps doing this Turpin may make the team but he might slowly get his job taken away from him...

This might be true he might be taking a step in the positive direction as far as running routes but the man picked up right where he left off in a negative way bobbling and fumbling footballs in the return game is a game killer you blame Prescott for interceptions but this dude set us back in a few games last year he also took far too many kicks out of the end zone he should have put a knee down he lost yardage he could have just put a knee down the man was trying too hard last year but then here we go preseason game one wasn't even supposed to play special teams fumbles the football and it took momentum away from that offense I think we win that game easily if he doesn't do that I'm not trying to blame the whole game on him it's it's preseason but you see what kind of oh man I'm killer these things are doing and if he keeps it up DV42 will take his snaps...

I'm all for giving the guy a chance to prove he's gonna get over these yips but if you can get rid of a kicker but like Brett Maher over one truly bad game well this dude's on A roll here with negative plays and I hope he makes the team and he gets over it but the man is gonna be close to getting cut mid season or at least benched and not active a lot of games because deuce Vaughn can run the ball back kickoffs punts and he can play in the pass game as well.. So the man needs to calm down and stop trying so hard it is not last year he's not trying to make the team he's not trying to impress fans and he needs to get over these yips..
