I have a rca xl100 stereo monitor tv with audio video plugs (red,yellow, white) I have my ps3/360 hooked up and i couldnt get to a input screen. First i thought it was the remote and bought a universal remote. The universal remote changes the channels, volume etc but i can not get to input. What is going on and how can i fix this?

I would try changing remotes. Get the same brand as your TV.

You can also see if your TV has an input button before you do anything.

It doesnt have an input button under the tv, but since it has the av cable hook up one would think that you can reach an input right? It has a video button but it doesnt change the input.

I have an RCA tv that you can ONLY change the input with the remote's input button that it came with. I carried it to a video shoot once ot use as a monitor and forgot the remote. Made the tv worthless. So dumb to not put that in the menu.

wiki pedia said this tv was made between 1970-1990 would a tv like this be able to play video games? I mean it has to right since it has the hookups in back, and when i put on channel 3 its black but there is sound from channel 2.
