Adam_Schefter Two of us disagree RT @RobRang: Disagree strongly but growing consensus that Alabama RB Mark Ingram is going to slip right out of 1st round

Yeah, I'd probably take him at 40 if he were there. Barber would be gone, and once the CBA were done I'd trade Choice for a bag of horse feed.

An Ingram/Jones pairing would be pretty special. Both are already used to a split RB situation.

I'd take him at 40 too, but if he does slide out of round 1, I can't imagine New England passing on him at 33.

That was my thought too. They could also take them with their 2nd first round pick.

Watched this guy and I feel he is like mcFadden and will never be all that in the pros

McFadden and Ingram are polar opposites if you ask me.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

I'd be elated. But if we go offense with the first 2 picks some on the board would blow a fuse.

Too good to pass up.

We can only dream. I mean, Steven Jackson slid to the 20s because the RB class was sooooo weak, so anything can happen.

I still suspect we'd have to trade up in late rd.1/rd 2 to get him though. I doubt that happens when the team needs a lot help on D as well

As in Darren McFadden? :laugh2:

Did you watch him last year?

That's before even getting into how different they are as players.

:laugh2: Not to mention how no one is projecting Ingram to go in the top 5 of the draft.

Two totally different types of running backs.

Darren McFadden hasn't started his career out so well the first 2 seasons but he was awesome last year.

One of the better backs in the league last year actually.

You're most likely right on where we'd have to pick him but he would help improve our running game which would help improve our time of possession.

Which is more than fair to say can directly help our defense by keeping them off the field and fresh when they are.

I agree we need help on defense, but if the strategy is best players available, I think its safe to say Ingram would be the BPA at 40 (if he were there)

And if we go offense with the first 2, we could go defense with all (or just about all) of the other 6 picks. Eventually, there'd be some free agency as well.

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely LOVE to get Ingram but I'm just trying not to get my hopes up because I think we'll go offense and then defense or vice versa

Depends if his knee concerns are legit...if so I would not waste a pick on him. I can get a part time back later in the draft and use that 40 pick on someone else we could use.

I still say there's no way he falls that low.

Yep. I fully expect them to take Ingram with their second pick in round 1. The only way they don't IMO, is if Hoodie somehow thinks nobody at the end of round 1 will take him and he feels like he can get him at 33.

If Belichick does pass on Ingram with his 2nd first rounder, it'd be pretty funny if we traded pick #40 to Green Bay for the last pick in round 1 (#32) and took Ingram.

Lil' Bill would be so pissed. :laugh2:

And we'd end up with something like Tyron Smith and Mark Ingram. Instant running game.

Of course we could always trade back some from #9 and get Carimi and pick up a second. Then trade 40 to Green Bay for 32 and take Ingram. Then in the second, with the extra 2nd rounder, we could take Watkins or Wisniewski for the interior OL.

That would shore up the run game.

I remember the hype grew about Mcfadden. Just like with Bush. Neither of them will ever come close to the hype. mcfadden was very good last year; after how many years of not much at all?

Of course not.

That's part of the reason I'm skeptical on Tyron Smith at #9.

However, as far as McFadden, not every player gets it right away. 3 Years in and he's showing promise, nothing wrong with that.
