What is the deal with this series of movies? I have not seen any of them... all i know is that they are vampire movies. However, the series seems to be polarizing to the population (rotten tomatoes scores it 101-103 fresh-rotten). Either you love the series or you hate it. What is the polarizing factor? If you think they are good, then why? If you think they are terrible, then why?

EMO should sum it up.

They're super hero movies for women. Fans are entertained, everyone who is not a fan recognizes it for the derivative slop it is.

See Also: Every spiderman movie, every x-men movie, etc.

I think Nolan's Batman series is the only superhero series I find has wide acclaim outside of the fanboy/fangirl circles. I'm probably forgetting some though.

I've seen them all as my 13 year old daughter is enamored with them... and, well, Daddy loves his princess and will do anything to spend time with her...

They are just OK, definitely appealing to teenage girls. They certainly have excellent cinematogrophy, but the stories are not geared for sports-watchin' beer-drinkin' adult males...

That being said, I think you would really like them... :D

They are the only books/movie series where you just want to punch the 2/3 people that are the "good guys" in the story.

Terrible characters. The heroine is a self absorbed obnoxious snot. The whole thing's designed to appeal to 12-13 year old girls' views of romance. The ultimate in nicey-nice vampires. The books aren't that well written and the movies less so.

Was talking to my 13 and 17 year old nieces when the second movie came out. The youngest was totally into it. The elder confided to me; 'I know it's not very good, but I just had to go see how they did it'.

They're definately garbage. My wife and daughter LOVE them. I've had to watch the first 3 because, well, I like having sex with my wife. So sometimes you make sacrifices that hurt like hell in order to be rewarded later.

But the movies are absolute garbage.

This thread smells of a poster that has indeed watched the movies and is fishing for some more Twilight Fanboys out there. If you like glistening vampires that sparkle in the Sunlight, then you should just say it. We save judgement for the Fan Zone.

For the most part they are made for teenage girls, i think. Although, i know some women in their twenties and older who have watched and liked them.

It's the same with other movies, music, etc... They are targeted to certain segments of the population.

No, but your post leads me to believe that you may be doing that which you accuse me of. :)

I'd always heard that the series was more of a fanstasy for adult women. I didn't realize that it's geared for 12-13 year olds.

Maybe it's some other vampire-related saga that gets the adult women all worked up?

In any case, I'll pass. But as mentioned earlier, I'd watch it with my wife (who has no interest in vamp stuff) if i thought it make for a wild night. :D

I think that scene has by far the best look for Emma Watson in the entirety of the Harry Potter films. She looks more mature and beautiful than I've seen here anywhere else for that matter. Much better than that horrible look she has now.

Oh, and Twilight is trash. There's MAYBE an hour's worth of story in the first 3 films combined, usually confined to the last 10-20 minutes of each movie. The books (or at least what I've read) are even worse. I had to give up on the first book after only making it half way through in 6 months time. Absolutely the worst books I ever looked at.
