Bill Parcells is old and the game, seemingly in one season, has passed him by.
He's hard-headed. If Jerry has an opinion, BP will take the opposing view.
He's got the hots for any player who has played for the Giants, Jets or is from New Jersey.
He derides players. Calling them "she." Implying that a player is not really hurt (In T.O.'s case he was probably right).
He questions players' guts, including Julius Jones'.
He prefers "experience" (i.e. Bledsoe) over agility and strength and mobility (Romo).
He treats the media and fans with disdain.
He is of the old-fashioned NFL. Up the middle for 2 yards. If he needs to pass, it will be mid-range passes. If he needs 11 yards he will attempt a pass 12 yards in the flats. And he loves the cheap, 5-yard sidelines pass.
He'll bring in slow, over-the-hill linemen (from the northeast) who prove to be . . . slow and over the hill in Dallas.
He lives in the now. Yeah, bring in 30-year-old receivers and 30-year-old QBs. Yeah, that will work. Building for the future? How ridiculous.
The game passed Tom Landry by.
Now it has passed Bill Parcells by.
Time to hang it up, Bill.
Time to think about retirement in beautiful New Jersey. Or maybe, just maybe, try your luck again with the N.Y. Jets and retire as a Jet. Because that is where your heart lies.
