Twins marry by mistake

A MARRIED couple have had their union annulled - after discovering they were twins.
The twins were separated at birth and not told they had any siblings. They were adopted by different families, and - amazingly - as adults they met, fell in love and married.
The High Court ruled the marriage had never been valid and annulled it.

Further details of the case, and the identity of the twins, have been kept secret to protect them.
Professor Lord Alton, who uncovered the case, said: "The right for children to know the identity of their biological parents is a human right.
"There will be more cases like this if children are not given access to the truth."

In my daily search for the fantastic, I have a special treat to share today, but I do have a twin sister and find this very disturbing. I'm glad the article was short on details.

No joke.

This happens more times than you would think. I can't imagine how traumatizing that would be.

Goodness, what are the odds? I feel for that couple because it's not like they can just shut off their feelings for each other. But that's one love they have no choice but to walk away from.

I'm in agreement with the court that adopted children should have the right to know who their biological parents are. But then you've got to wonder how knowing would have prevented something like this from happening. When people meet they don't whip out their birth certificates to cross-check parentage. Sometime during their relationship I'm sure the subject would have come up but not likely before some damage was already done.

Couldn't they just move to Arkansas and stay together?

:laugh1:

I read this earlier and was thinking the exact opposite...

How could you leave that one detail out???? Inquiring minds want to know!

LOL No. I think they might have mentioned how the truth was discovered and at, um, what point. Oh, and do they still speak and how creepy must that be? BTW, being in Britain this wouldn't be unheard of in the heyday of Royalty anyway.

Good to know I wasn't the only one to think of this.

Remember the story about TO as a young guy having a crush on the girl down the street only to find out it was his sister.

You're in for quite a tongue lashing if baja1 reads this.

classic

just remember this story the next time you pick a chick up at a bar and go back to her place to nail her. it might be your long lost sister ;)

All humor aside. These siblings should be profoundly greatful they made this discovery before they brought any offspring into this world.

There is a reason God forbid incest in the bible. The life long consequences are severe for the offspring, let alone the emotional and spiritual impact on the siblings or children of the raped.

If you think I'm kidding, do a google search on children of incest.

Or Laredo :D

Laredo has many many many MANY faults, but incest isn't one of them.

Therefore I don't think it would suite you. :D
