I'm still pissed at Laughenberg from 1990. All he had to do was win one freaking game and we could have gone from 1 - 15 to a playoff team in one year. Instead, he sucked and (if memory serves) blew 3 games in a row for us.

Of course that's from memory and I could be totally wrong about the circumstances - I'm pissed anyway. My memory may fade, but the anger remains strong.

I looked it up, it was the last 2 games. I knew one was against Philly. Every time I hear his name I get irritated because of that, which probably shows that I've got some issues. I don't even like him as a broadcaster because he sucked so bad when all he had to do was win one freaking game.

If I remember correctly, we were one Rams or Saints loss away from making the playoffs as a 6-10 team.

Pulled from wikipedia:
The Cowboys entered the season's final two weeks needing only one win or Saints' loss to make the playoffs as a wildcard. However, in game 15 quarterback Troy Aikman separated his shoulder early against the Eagles and was replaced by Babe Laufenberg (The Cowboys had traded backup Steve Walsh early in the season and Lauferberg was elevated from 3rd string to backup). With Aikman injured, the Cowboys mustered little offense against the Eagles and lost, 17–3. Meanwhile the Saints upset the 49ers (handing the Niners only their second loss) to keep the Cowboys from clinching in game 15. The next week, with Laufenberg again leading the offense, the Cowboys were thoroughly beaten, 26–7, by the 4–11 Atlanta Falcons. When the Saints beat the Rams the next night, the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention.

We were sitting at 7 - 7, all we needed was one win. Babe goes out and has an 8.8 passer rating against the Eagles and follows it up with an impressive 38.4 against the lowly Falcons. In the two games we scored a total of 10 points and he threw for all of 269 yards with 1 TD and 6 Ints.

Babe couldn't carry Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson's jock straps. He makes Matt Cassell look like a first ballot hall of famer.

He still irritates me.

Falcons had no fear of the passing game, they blitzed and blitzed and blitzed.

Yeah, because Babe couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

I still can't believe he ever got a job in Dallas media, I thought he'd be run out of town and possibly tarred and feathered after 1990.

To make matters worse, I think the Saints won their finale on a last minute FG. But at least we learned our lesson as we acquired Beuerlein the following season and he helped us make the playoffs and even beat the Bears in the wildcard game.

Beuerlein was a heck of a backup.

I had such high hopes when we got to 7 - 7 just one year after going 1 - 15. I thought we were going to make the playoffs - then we got Babed.

What grown man goes by the moniker Babe? Should have been a dead giveaway.

Having badmouthed the nickname, I hope Sportsbabe isn't a guy who just happens to have the same nickname as Laughenberg... that would be awkward.
