A "number of teams" have red flagged Boise State RB Jay Ajayi's knee when reviewing medical checks, according to Tony Pauline.
Thee knee injury (which was described as "shredded") occurred during an attempted theft when Ajayi was 18 years old after just moving to the U.S. for football. Beat writer Chadd Cripe once said "The injury on the field was so bad that coaches wondered if he'd recover." Pauline's report is worth keeping in mind during draft weekend, especially if Ajayi stays on the board longer than expected. Apr 20 - 12:43 PM

"I’ve been a big proponent of running back Jay Ajayi of Boise State and like his entire game. That said last week I was informed a number of teams red flagged Ajayi over a knee injury he sustained early in his college career." - Tony Pauline

Don't like him either way. So this is good to me.
I don't like him either, but its bad news that he is getting pushed down the board. Rather he push other players down the board to us at 60, Coleman.

Well this is good news he fumbles way to much for me anyway. Hopefully the team moves on.

I guess I'm not understanding. Did he get injured off the field during some "attempted theft" when he was 18 yrs old, or later, ON THE FIELD, when he was an RB for Boise St.?

Not that it really makes that much of a difference, but if it was something that happened before he ever took a snap and played 3 yrs with, without incident, then I don't know that I'd be too worried about it vs. something that he just started battling with during his workload on the field. One seems like a freak accident, the other, a result of the line of work he is in.

I still wouldn't mind having him in the backfield, but not in the 1st round.

Sounds like a degenerative condition. Frank Gore had the same thing basically and he has been a horse.

I think Dallas is on the plan where they will just draft a new RB every other year to keep the position young, so longevity would just need to be four years of service.

If your plan is not to give out a 2nd contract to a RB, then it's hard to justify using a 1st round pick on one. Not that they would use a 1st on Ajayi.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Draft him in the 4th or 5th round.
