can't believe some project Ore WR Jeff Maehl as 6th rd pick - fastest shuttle (3.94) and cone drill (6.42!!!) at combine-plus he can play!

He's a 6th rounder because he posted a 4.6 in the 40 and the hurry up offense they ran at Oregon. Dane Sanzenbacher put up very similar numbers in the shuttle, 3-cone, etc. but ran a 4.5. He also drew rave reviews from the Bengals staff about great routes and hands at the Senior Bowl, leading the North in receptions during the game. I wouldn't mind either in the slot, but Sanzenbacher and Maehl will be drafted in the 5th/6th/7th for a reason.

I just don't care for a WR in this draft. RW11 isn't going anywhere, we still have olgetree and tons of UDFA wrs and I'm sure they will add a vetern WR. We have 3 starters right now and have way to many needs than to worry about another WR.

And he weighs, what, 145?

Productive guy but looks frail. Alotta people comparing him to Proehl though.

Maehl is a player. Looked good in the National Championship game too. I can see him as a 6th or 7th round pick. He's going to slip because his size and his 4.6 forty at the combine.

Sanzenbacher from Ohio St. looks to frail to play in the leaugue.

Maehl has outstanding short-area quickness that's tailor-made for the slot. Having said that, he needs a ton of work on building his body because he's built like a 6' tall Randy Moss.

I was kidding, of course, but good to hear he was 190. He sure didn't look it in the championship game.

But at least you agree he looks like he has the build of Moss. :)

No doubt. I was completely shocked that he weighed 190 at the combine. I would have thought 175 max after watching him the past couple of seasons. He was all knees and elbows.

Whats funny is, him Titus Young, and Sanzenbacher were 3 of 6 WR's to not participate in the bench press. HMMMMMM. Go figure.

Don't how he he weighed in at 190. He must have some pretty jacked legs.

Heavy bones?

Would be good to know if these stats (shuttle and cone) predict something. Can we combine a shuttle or a cone with a 40 time and get a useful number?

That Kerwin number seemed to point out players.

Unfortunately my time in stat classes wasn't a complete success.

I think he would be a nice flyer in the 6th round or so. I'd like to diversify our WR talent a little bit, and add a nice little scat back slot guy. We have too many of the same types of WRs. I wanted the Cowboys to take Emmanuel Sanders last year for the same reason.

Amen to that, Rosh. I've been wanting us to draft a quick guy with speed, even if he isn't big, for years now. We've been too fixated on these bigger, taller, outside-type guys IMO.

Sanders was my guy too. Mike Wallace and Tiquan Underwood were two others I wanted in '09.
