Martellus is sticking to his story that he hurt his ankle while catching passes at Valley Ranch. Said that he was working on jump balls?
8 minutes ago via web

Practice is over for the morning....heading for the field to visit with players and coaches...
33 minutes ago via web

Say what you want about Patrick Crayton, he just continues to make plays for Tony Romo. Can this team afford to let him go?
36 minutes ago via web

Steve Octavien has been super productive in practice today. He is in a battle with Brandon Williams for that back up, rush linebacker.
40 minutes ago via web

I know that DeMarcus Ware is a pro bowl player but Robert Brewster has yet to lay a hand on his as a blocker. Inside or out, doesnt matter.
44 minutes ago via web

Just watched Leonard Davis try to pull to his right, able to get outside but needs to finish his block, didnt block anyone.
about 1 hour ago via web

Scouts told me that Sean Lissemore was a strong player. He just showed me why when he used his power to play off Will Barker's block.
about 1 hour ago via web

Back up Center Travis Bright has his hands full with Jay Ratliff today. Ratliff's quickness is a little too much for him.
about 1 hour ago via web

Its impressive how much separation that Bryant is able to create when he runs his crossing routes. Explosive.
about 1 hour ago via web

Deon Anderson doing a nice job as a point of attack blocker today. Cant be a 50 - 50 blocker here. Last season thought he struggled here.
about 1 hour ago via web

James attacking blocks. First defense bringing it to the second offensive line.
about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Holland and Barron opening some nice holes on the left side. Choice running with a purpose.
about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Barber looks quick in the 9 on 7 drill. Hitting the holes much better.
about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

In the 3 Wide set, Austin plays the slot which will be a nightmare for defensive coordinators because Garrett can move him all over.
about 2 hours ago via web

Jason Garrett is working on his 3 Wide package vs air this morning. This means that we will see it at some point vs the defense today.
about 2 hours ago via web

One of the most important positions on a team is the snapper. Scott Sicko trying to maybe take LP Ladouceur's job has been very poor so far

Josh Ellis
Dez is lovin this...he's jacked up during practice, clapping after Roy makes a catch. Last one to left field signing autographs.
1 minute ago via web

Diving catch by Dez downfield, with Jenkins right on his hip. Well placed throw by Kitna.
36 minutes ago via Twitterrific

Kitna was just stripped by Ware coming from his right. He's seemed a little slow to make decisions, but pressure has been an issue.
44 minutes ago via Twitterrific

In a press coverage drill Terence Newman just shut down Dez. He got nowhere.
about 1 hour ago via Twitterrific

Deon Anderson had his helmet knocked off while lead blocking in a 9-on-9 I side run drill, kept going and ended up jawing with Bradie James.
about 1 hour ago via Twitterrific

RT @TheAlistGroup Have Jerry watch The Blind Side. Maybe he will get us a Left Tackle.> Yes, only then will he realize the importance.
about 1 hour ago via Twitterrific in reply to TheAlistGroup

After offseason knee surgery, Keith Brooking is getting this morning's session off.
about 2 hours ago via Twitterrific

@derekeagleton says I'm being an alarmist by tweeting about Free getting beat yesterday. I think he just gave up a sack during stretching.

Rob Phillips
For those curious about Jon Kitna's mobility, he still has some. Eluded immediate edge pressure from Ware and fired a short completion.
about 1 hour ago via web

Team work: nice series for offense 1's vs. defense 2's. Romo hits Dez on crossing route, Crayton at sideline. Barber had huge hole up middle
about 1 hour ago via web

Marty B sighting: He's on the field in workout clothes. 'Boys expect him to miss at least a couple days, but it's only a sprained ankle.
about 1 hour ago via web

Quick reminder: Talkin' Cowboys will push back to 1:30-2:30 p.m. (CT) on two-a-days, starting today here in SA.
about 1 hour ago via web

Calvin Watkins
Tony Romo was 3-5 passing on the 11-11. Roy had a dropped pass that hurt.

Dez Bryant was last to leave the practice field again. Seems he talked to every reporter here, then made lap around field high-fiving fans.
8 minutes ago via web

Ruh-roh, Rowdy's loose at the Alamodome. He's cruising the sideline in a flatbed golf cart while special teamers stretch.
about 2 hours ago via web

Dez again was on the practice field bright & early catching balls from 4th-string QB. Bryant got fans involved, tossing ball into stands.

Love to see this guy make it.

Bryan Broaddus
Give round one to Linebacker Steve Octavien over Brandon Williams. Octavien played with some juice in his game. Hard to block.
27 minutes ago via web

Jay Ratliff was playing like his off season elbow surgeries were a success. He showed no ill effect in his ability to shed blockers.
31 minutes ago via web

Didnt like the way that Tackle Robert Brewster looked today, Played with no power or punch. Had a hard time setting his feet.
34 minutes ago via web

I can't believe there were some people didn't want us to draft Dez. I love me some Dez!

Geez, Brewster is basically a rookie. Sure, he knows the plays, so he's farther ahead than your typical rookie. But he hasn't seen D-Ware speed before. That would take anyone some time to adjust to.

Speaking of tackles, I wonder how Young looks so far? Jerry said they really liked him in OTAs.

This is a guy that I've liked since we picked him up. I think he brings intensity and speed to a defense plus, he's good on special teams. But, with the influx of new LBs the team has had over the past couple of year's, I kind of figured his time was probably at an end.

However, if he continues to make plays like that, he might still make it. Not all LBs do well on special teams, so that might give him an edge too.

Is he insinuating that Martellus isn't being completely honest? The guys on the Lunch Break confirmed that the injury happened at Valley Ranch but the trainers were not there since they already headed to camp. He did go to a doctor to get checked out but he wasn't able to get with the Cowboys' trainers until now.

Sure sounds like he is. And good news from the Lunch Break. Those guys always have some nuggets that you don't hear anywhere else.

Dez Bryant must suck then b/c Newman is terrible and we couldn't even get a 7th round pick for him :)

Last I heard, the staff was moving Steve Octavien to inside linebacker and here Bryan Braoddus has him competing with Brandon Williams to be the thrid outside linebacker.

Did Victor Butler fall off the face of the earth?

I don't think Octavien is competing for playing time at OLB this year, that just isn't in the cards. He didn't see a snap there last season even with Williams on IR.

Octavien's ticket to remain on the 53 is still special teams, IMO, that's where he outperformed Jason Williams and Curtis Johnson last year.

Yeah, I heard that (move to ILB) as well. IMO, in Wade Phillips' defense, Octavien is built more like an ILB anyway. I was surprised that they had him outside last season.

However, James Harrison did well for the Steelers at OLB, and he is about the same size and build as Octavien... so what do I know?

I really do like the guy and I think he could be very good at ILB for us, but with K. Brooking, B. James, J. Williams, and S. Lee ahead of him, I don't know how much chance he has of making the team.

I suppose with Octavien playing well on special teams, if Wade likes him enough, he will find a spot for him. A lot of 34 teams do end up keeping 9 LBs, so it definitely can happen.

1) D. Ware
2) A. Spencer
3) K. Brooking
4) B. James
5) B. Williams
6) V. Butler
7) S. Lee
8) J. Williams
9) S. Octavien

That looks like a really good LB corps to me!

Yeah, if he was getting beat by multiple players other than our all pro type starters then you might have call to be a little worried.

Here's what Vela had to say about Brewster's practice. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2010/7/25/1587057/cowboys-camp-report-2-the-first
My vantage point gave me a solid look at 2nd year man Robert Brewster, who mans the right tackle spot behind Marc Colombo. Brewster handled the power rushers effectively, though he did yield a bit too much ground to Marcus Spears on an early rep. Brewster was caught in no-man's land, however, when Ware started hard upfield, then planted his left foot and countered hard inside the youngster. Brewster was left flat-footed, but I've seen many veterans left flailing by this move. I'd like to see more reps from Brewster, but he doesnt' look overmatched here. RT was his primary position at Ball State, and the Cowboys seem to have settled Brewster here for the time being.

Felix heavier than Barber? MBIII must really want to silence the critics this year.

Mike Jenkins is going to have a huge year this year, with the amount of pressure we're going to generate, and it seemed last year he kept getting better and better. I like that he is taking the game seriously and recognizing his talents.
