I know I'm not an NFL coach, but if I were Wade I would make this team practice from 7am-1pm, and them from 4pm-9pm. And none of this "no pads, no hitting" crap. I would take them out of the nice little air-conditioned practice facility and make them practice full contact under the Texan sun. Camp Cupcake has shifted from a joke to stark reality. We need less time yapping to the media and more time playing damn football.

Larry Brown said yesterday that the only way to make players listen is to threaten their jobs, because that is why Jimmy Johnson's teams played full steam for 60 minutes. They knew if Jimmy thought they were slacking or taking plays off, he wouldn't hesitate to cut their sorry butts.

I listened to that entire three hour postgame where Larry Brown said that a hundred times.

First, Jimmy had a lot harder time doing that in Miami with a salary cap, didn't he?

And second, who would you bench and who would you replace them with? You want Doug Free back there protecting Romo when Flozell gets beat? Start Choice when Barber fumbles? Justin Rogers starting when Ellis misses a tackle?

People are delusional about the 90's Cowboys sometimes.

Yeah, we were the best.

But that team was just as capable of laying an egg against someone crappy as any team.

They had their share of underachieving moments as well.

The difference was when they got put on the big stage they performed.

This team has shown they can do that in the regular season. Not yet in the post season.

That team didn't show progressive deterioration like this team... It layed an egg, but it picked itself back up. This team had systematic appraoch towards a football game...

You think Tony Curtis would have that big of an effect on the salary cap?

Jimmy did not deal with a salary cap it was much easier cutting a player to make a point and you notice Jimmy did not cut starting players only guys like Curvin Richards. As for training camp I'm all for the hot 2 a days in the hot Texas sun but during the season no you don't run 2 a days when all teams are starting to feel the bump and briuses of the reg season.

dblair gave a number of very good examples comparing that team to this team.

For example, when the '91 team first made the playoffs, they actually WON a playoff game(before, of course, they got annihilated by Detroit the following week). This current team has YET to win a playoff game, and they became the FIRST NFC #1 team in 20 years to make an early exit.

The '92 team took that next step, and you know the rest of the story. This team has just found a million ways to regress each year.

And look at alot of their losses under Jimmy. In '92, the 31-7 loss @Philly on Mon night...we actually outgained them in total yards, but we didn't protect the football. We lost to the lowly Rams at home in Nov, but it was only by 4 pts on the last play of the game. In '93, in our 2 game losing streak in late Nov, Troy and Emmitt didn't play, and it didn't help that Leon Lett's head was somewhere else.

On the contrary, if you look at alot of our losses under Bill/Wade-we played alot of undisciplined football, we showed no fire and passion, I can go on and on...

What I'm saying is that I wouldn't compare the personalities of these 2 teams at all. The 90's team can easily wax our current team any day.

That's all well and good but we're headed for around 70 within a couple of days here in DFW, and around 50 for the lows.

Nice concept, just a few months late...

And who are you going to get to take Hamlin's place if he gets injured in practice. Yada yada yada.

I can't say I didn't think about long practices. But to work on things. Individually when necessary. But you can't wear them out either. We have to play Sunday and winning cures everything.

Sadly, I believe the collective bargaining agreement limits practice time.
