Two Back Offense?

not sure if that works if you use it too often, or several times a game. unless Pollard is put out wide as a WR. neither zeke or pollard would be good lead blockers. Pollard is not great as a WR, so matching him up against a safety or CB is not a good idea. if Pollard is matched up against a LB, then he has the advantage. you wouldn't want to swing Zeke wide or in the slot, as he is not a WR and unless matched up against LB, he will not be effective. as a DC, if I see this formation I will bring a safety in the box and spy on one of the RBs, either as a slot WR or if they act as a receiver out of the back field and drop into a shallow zone. it also makes running difficult because your OL is out numbered on the defensive side.

How do you know Pollard is not great as a WR?

He was great as a pass catching RB.

Memphis only had 1 WR with more catches than Pollard.

He has the size that he could play outside WR and the quickness to play slot-WR.

I’m gonna wait until the season starts before I start criticizing the play calling.

theyve done it with Zeke and Dunbar over the years just off the top of my head. Zeke did it a lot just last year.
Done what? Build an offense around the talent of its players, because, no. They drafted Zeke to fit the mold of exactly what they want, and they used Dunbar exactly the same as they used Austin, Whitehead, and tried to use Switzer. Why should I assume it would be any different with a rookie?

he may have been great as a receiver in college. even great college WRs struggle when they first come to NFL, much less a RB who also played some WR. so probability is low. not zero. but low. he probably will struggle as an outside WR, as that position has a lot of nuances...playing slot WR is a little easier......

"Struggle" at WR would be more of starting WR concept. As a rookie, they'll work him into the mix at both WR and RB.

In college he was great on all types of screens both from the WR and RB positions.

flex them between RB, HB, and WR off of audible. Dunbar and Austin are frail midgets. Whitehead was limited by his intellect to grasp the multiplicity. Switzer was never really tried in his limited time here.

And Pollard has been flexing between spots at Memphis for years and more ready to assume the role than most rookies.

I get it. you hate the coaching staff and don't think they can do anything.

Austin and Dunbar were both capable as running backs. It's not like Pollard is going to be a hammer between the tackles any differently than those guys.

The coaching staff has shown absolutely 0 ability to do what you're tlaking about it. They couldn't do it with TEs either.

He’s a 4th round pick. Let’s see how he plays before we have the team changing the offense for him.
I agree. We thought similar with Ryan Switzer. Could be s utility guy andddddd traded lol I see pollard doing better but still.

He weighs 30 lbs more than those two. Those two had success running sweeps and the like not middle iso. Pollard can do both and has near a 1000 reps as a WR in college.

They flexed out Zeke a ton last year and had a lot of success both with the vertical and horizontal passing game doing so. Heck even with Whitehead they got good production off his sweeps, smoke routes, and screens.
