Jacobs, 35, had been accused of selling steroids to many NFL football players and reportedly named names with the league's security officials last month. He was a personal trainer who claimed he offered guidance to members of the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons.
Has he even been linked to anyone but Matt Lehr yet?
No sir, he has not. Lehr was on both teams and it has gone from one guy who was on both teams to plural without evidence in a hurry.

I'd be willing to bet more than 80% of all professional athletes use anabolic steroids. They should just make it legal and regulate it.

Convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs found dead in Plano home

12:32 PM CDT on Thursday, June 5, 2008

Convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs, who recently agreed to tell the NFL which football players received banned substances he manufactured, was found dead in his Plano home this morning.

The body of a woman identified as Amanda Jo Earhart-Savell, 30, and a gun were also found at the home.

Police received a missing-person call this morning shortly after midnight from the family of the dead woman, said Plano police spokesman Rick McDonald. The family said she might be at the house on Honey Creek.

Police arrived to found the two dead inside from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities were not saying whether this was a murder-suicide.

"We're not speculating," Officer McDonald said. "It's a high-profile case. They're not going to leave anything unturned."

About 11:30 a.m., four men in ski masks and raid jackets with "police" on the back — indicating they may be undercover narcotics officers — arrived at the busy scene and entered the home with a cart to carry documents.

The Dallas Morning News spoke to Mr. Jacobs frequently and exchanged e-mails with him as recently as this weekend. He was interested in getting on with his life after accepting a plea deal for three years of probation on charges related to his steroids trafficking.

Mr. Jacobs said he wanted to rebuild his nutritional supplement business, but he was having trouble getting his old client base to work with him. He also was having financial problems, but the former Marine seemed to be in good spirits.

Art Atwood, a nationally noted bodybuilder and former close friend of Mr. Jacobs, is himself awaiting sentencing on charges related to steroids trafficking. He said Thursday such stresses and pressures are "a recipe for disaster."

He described Mr. Jacobs as a passionate man. "Whatever he did it was 100 percent. Full blaze on."

His attorney, Hank Hockeimer, said early Thursday he had not yet been briefed on the situation at the home.

On May 21, Mr. Jacobs met with NFL security officials to share information about steroids use and their football players.

Mr. Jacobs has publicly accused ex-Dallas Cowboys lineman Matt Lehr of buying large quantities of banned substances, but has never for the record named other football players who received the steroids he manufactured.

Mr. Hockeimer said this of the meeting at the time:

"The general topic was his knowledge of steroid and human growth hormone use by current and former players. They were thorough in their questioning. David provided them with documents corroborating what he was telling them."

Mr. Hockeimer would not say which players were discussed. But he said Mr. Jacobs provided documentary evidence of claims he was making.

At the time of Mr. Jacobs' alleged transactions with Mr. Lehr, the football player was playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He is now signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Mr. Lehr's attorney, Paul Coggins, has said prosecutors have informed him that Mr. Lehr will not be indicted in the Jacobs case.

Federal agents had been investigating Mr. Lehr for alleged distribution to other players, but have not commented on his status, other than to say the case is ongoing.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello at the time declined to comment on the meeting between Mr. Jacobs and league officials. He did say that the league was not paying Mr. Jacobs for his information.

Outside the Sherman federal courthouse, having just been sentenced on May 1, Mr. Jacobs said that he wanted to share his knowledge of testing loopholes and the prevalence of performance enhancing-drug use with the NFL to "clean up" the game.

Mr. Jacobs imported raw powder from China and made steroids, which he sold through a network that investigators believe could be one of the largest in the United States.

His six co-defendants were either personal trainers or amateur bodybuilders.

Funny how the first thing that comes up attached to Lehr's name is "Dallas Cowboys" when the fact of the matter is that he wasn't involved with steroids until after he played for Dallas.

But don't let facts stand in the way........

So much easier than that, all I do is act like I am into guns and read their reactions. You just never know with people, I am not against guns, I am against crazy people with guns.

Sorry his home:
ESPN.com
PLANO, Texas -- A convicted steroids dealer who recently met with NFL security officials and gave them names of players he said bought steroids from him has been found dead in his home.

Just after midnight on Thursday, Plano police made a welfare check and found 35-year-old David Jacobs and 30-year-old Amanda Jo Earhart-Savell dead. Both had been shot.

Officer Rick McDonald, a police spokesman, said the officers were making a welfare check after relatives of Earhart-Savell expressed concern about her whereabouts.

He says Plano detectives aren't releasing information about whether the deaths were a double homicide or a murder-suicide, whether a weapon was found near the bodies, or any other details.

Men in ski masks and jackets marked "police" were seen entering the home late Thursday morning, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The newspaper reported it had spoken with Jacobs frequently and exchanged e-mails with him as recently as last weekend. Jacobs had sought to rebuild his nutritional supplement business, but he was experiencing financial problems and having trouble getting his old client base to work with him, according to the report.

On May 21, Jacobs met with NFL security officials in the Dallas area and gave them names of players he said bought steroids from him, according to Hank Hockeimer, his lawyer.

Hockeimer told the newspaper on Thursday he had not yet been briefed about the situation at Jacobs' house.

The league requested the meeting after Jacobs was sentenced to three years of probation on May 1 for a single count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids. He had cooperated with federal authorities since his arrest last year.

By his own account, Jacobs was a prolific salesman, moving 1,000 bottles of anabolic steroids a month and an equal number of growth hormone kits that he obtained illicitly from China.

Hockeimer had said that league officials seemed "genuinely interested" in what Jacobs had to say, as well as in canceled checks and e-mails that he provided.

Jacobs has publicly acknowledged that he dealt primarily with two NFL players, and earlier identified one of them as offensive lineman Matt Lehr. Last month, Jacobs told the Dallas Morning News that Lehr purchased tens of thousands of dollars of steroids and growth hormone from the spring of 2006 to the spring of 2007. He also told the paper that Lehr agreed to have boxes of raw steroid powder from China shipped directly to his Georgia home.

Lehr served a four-game suspension while a member of the Atlanta Falcons in October 2006 after he tested positive for a banned substance. He spent last season with Tampa Bay and was acquired by the Saints in the offseason.

Lehr's attorney, Paul Coggins, has previously insisted that "we have been told by the prosecutors that they do not intend to bring charges" against him.

After his sentencing, Jacobs told The New York Times that he hoped to tell league officials about "loopholes in their program." He also said he'd advised about 10 players to use finasteride, a drug to treat balding, because it masks steroid use.

From John Romano (he knew both parties)
More news.... Amanda had not been heard from in days. Her father called Amanda's sister's boyfriend who went to Jacobs apartment and broke down the door. Both bodies were found inside. Amanda had been shot in the face at very close range. The couple had split up but then secretly gotten back together. One report states that they were even perhaps living together. apparently, amanda had decided to once again break it off with Jacobs. So far I've heard no reports of a mob hit ordered on Jacobs. it seems more a crime of passion. The bodies had been inside for at least the last 24 hours.
