Makes me sick that Dallas is keeping two kickers. I didn't like it before the kicks were moved up, making Buehler a little more valuable but now? Dallas ties up a roster spot for a kick off specialist?

Is this Jerruh's pick or ego getting in the way?

How long is Dallas going to struggle at this position?

Carrying two means they couldn't find the right one.

Until Jerry changes his philosophy of no kickers in the 1st round? Probably forever.

:muttley:

This has nothing to do with Jerry, It has to do with the simple fact that Bailey sucks on Kickoffs, is a little better than avg on FG's. Beuhler is great on kickoffs, and avg and below on FG's. Both sections of the game matter (Check that Titan's game if you don't think so). so therefore the cowboys needed both kickers.

Maybe if we took a kicker in the 1st round we'd be golden. We seem to nail 1st round picks

it is what it is. Whining about it changes nothing. Beuhler is excellant at kickoffs and long FGs. Bailey hopefully takes care of the short stuff. Best that we can do.

Somehow people get the idea that 90% kickers grow on trees.

Guess what- they don't.

I can think of few teams that have done a worse job in the kicking department than the Cowboys.

And we can partly thank Bill Parcells.

He sent Steve Hoffman packing several years ago which proved to be a big mistake.

Having to keep two kickers is an embarrassment.

The decision to keep two kickers has nothing to do with Jerry's ego, but as GM, Jerry does have responsibilities for acquiring the right kind of talent.

The right kicker wasn't acquired, which is why the Cowboys now have two kickers.

I don't know, but the current kicker coach doesn't seem to be in the same league as was Steve Hoffman. That was a real waste of both instruction and a finger on the pulse as to who is in the field, or could be developed to do the job. One of the many things Bill Parcells grouped in his own hands and 'freinds of Bill' associations.

I like the Cowboys' present Special Team's Coach, but on kicking, he doesn't measure up to Hoffman either.

This slobbering over Hoffman is a joke.

As I recall he only ever found one Kicker that made it to more than one Pro Bowl. He was good at finding cheap kickers who were decent and no more.

IF he was all that some here claim, Bellicheat or someone else would have locked him up with a 10 year contract. Did not happen. He never seems to stay more than a few years anywhere. Must be a reason for that.

I have never heard him mentioned as someone that anyone would want to keep permanently on staff; someone to actually go after or pay a lot of money for. Must be a reason for that.

Maybe you should apply for the player personnel position. I'm sure you can do 100 million times better.

If you're so good.... why are you still available! :laugh2:

Another way to think about is is "who would they have kept if Buehler or the other kicker they kept were cut? And does that #54-on-the-depth-chart player bring skills to to the table that are better than Buehler's kickoff ability, or the other kickers placekiking ability?

Tell it to Jimmy Johnson know-it-all....

And get your facts straight, when Parcells left him go, he was the longest tenured assistant coach in the league.

Oh good, another thread reminding me of this. The other half dozen hadn't caused enough shooting pains between my eyes.

I'm just hoping the 2 kickers are a stopgap measure till Forbath is healthy.

So?

What has he done since?

and sticking around Dallas from 98-03 or whatever; really a great entry on your resume.

All the guys you talked about will end up on the practice squad if Dallas likes them. I still do not see where the great travesty is by having two kickers. It is not like the coaching staff did not try to bring in competition they brought in kicker after kicker.

Vent if it makes you feel better but for the games Buehler will have a greater impact than any of the guys you listed. Plus if they are on the practice squad and something happens they will get a shot this year to move up to the active roster.
