Two Minute Defense

Now, I'm not putting this loss on the defense. They played their hearts out. They played awesome. They held the number one offense in the NFL in check and practically dominated them.

Our cowardly offense again let us down.

But we still should not have lost this game.

Our two minute defense must be fixed. Say what you want, but there will be close games every single week in the NFL. If your defense can't close the deal, then you will lose your share of games. We should be 6-1 at this time.

I don't know if it's a matter of our youth killing us, the scheme, or offenses just waiting, or bad calls by officials......

Something MUST be done.

I'm sorry, but it's just too obvious to play so good all day and then just collapse all the time in the last two minutes. I'm tired of it.

Well, what can be done to fix it?

We allow the Chargers to go the length of the field

We allow the Skins two late TDs

We allow a last second TD to the Giants

We allow 10 points in the last two minutes to the Seahawks.

This is a trend.......I wonder if teams see something about our scheme?

If the offense would do its job, then you wouldn't have to rely on the defense in the last 2 minutes.

This was all about our Offense not helping our Defense. When you turn the ball over twice, once in a critical situation, then you don't take advantage of the Defense handing you the ball on the 8 yard line and you have a putz for a kicker then you have these kinds of things. I mean how many times do you expect a defense to hold the #1 offense in check? It should not have happened but the blame goes squarley on the Offense and the chicken crap play calling. I only remember one maybe two shots downfield. This was our game and we handed it to the Seahawks.

The thing is that it has been going on for over 5 years.

Let's see -the head coach has changed, the defensive assistants have changed, the players have changed and the scheme has changed.

The only real constant has been Zimmer.

yep, sucks. I don't know about you guys, but when I saw us lining up to kick a fg I knew that Seattle would get the ball and go down the field and score the td.

I don't know if we are dropping back into a zone, or if the players are pressing, but it is getting pretty sad.

Sorry, but in today's NFL, all games will be close. Take a look at the scores of games lately.....all games are close. If your defense can't close the deal, you'll be staying home for the playoffs.

Now, it' unfair to blame a defense that was as dominating as ours was today, but they have to show up at the end of the game.

You can't expect blowouts every week....we're not that good yet.

I think this is the fundamental flaw of Parcells' strategy. Our defense, all season, has basically been pretty darn good up until it comes time for the two minute drill -- both at the end of the first half and the second half.

Yet we play to a style that creates the game being left on the line up until the final minutes. Why? Either we need to adjust our offensive strategy to accomidate for this defensive flaw, or we need to adjust our defensive strategy so we stop getting slapped around in the final two minutes.

The d-line for whatever reason just can't get a good push by themselves during crunch time. If they don't blitz, the qb will eventually find an open receiver as the secondary always finds a way to breakdown and leave someone open. IF they blitz, then the CB's are exposed bigtime to easy passes. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It comes down to the d-line creating pressure from their front 4... Otherwise, they're screwed.

Like making plays downfield. Throw the stupid ball downfield and get the D off the line. Make them worry about something.

Sorry, I humbly disagree......We had a lead going into the fourth quarter, but we blew it.

I sat there when we kicked off and said, "we're going into OT."

I just had a feeling that our defense would not hold them.

The offense should've scored more points....but in the end, we had the game won, and didn't stop them when we needed too.

We have to have the worse 4th quarter 2 minute defense EVER in the NFL. It is just very sad.

I don't know if it is coaching, players or bad breaks but whatever it is - the coaches need to find it & get it fixed! That is what the coaches get paid for. If it is bad breaks - then get a damn witchdoctor in & cast some good luck spell.

Give the C-hoks credit. We shut down the team which will probably be playing in the NFC-CG.

Don't feel too bad. The Hoks are the creme of the NFC crop ... we hung with and should have been them in their own back yard.

Four words can sum this up. I honestly do not know how many more times we have to see it.

#1 Gee
#2 Are
#3 Oh
#4 Zee

Exactly.

Yet it seems Parcells WANTS the game to be left to the two-minute defense to defend.

Odd strategy.

To be fair, Hasselback had some dog crap on at least 4 throws today. He flung up a lot of balls that his WRs made plays on.

When the defense gives you as many opportunities as ours did today and you can't take advantage of them, then that is the Offense. Our D played great. But when you keep them out there and then you make a bone headed play like chucking the ball up for an INT at the end of the game, I would not say that was the D's fault. They bear some responsibility but only about 10% of it. The rest goes on the crap play calling and the offensive execution.

We had the lead at the end of the game......again........we let the other team march down the field to score a game-tying TD......again.

This is a problem.

It must be fixed.

End of story.

Now, I do agree that the offense sucked today......But we were in position to win and the last second defense let us down......again.
