Two old trailers make a home

Pretty cool, .. except I would have to rethink two issues in his floorplan.

1) I would not want the bathroom door to open up to the living room.
2) I would not want to have to walk through the living room from the bedroom to get to the bathroom.

Pretty nice for a hunting cabin or something though.

Yeah, there's any number of layouts you could use. I thought of arranging shipping containers in a circle, thus forming a courtyard in the center. Plus, it would give family members maximum privacy from one another.

I couldn't get the link to work, but I assume it's not unlike these in concept? A guy that has a lake lot a few miles from me has been working w/ an architect and contractor, fixin' to break ground on a "complex style" home that'll incorporate shipping containers in parts.

23 Surprisingly Gorgeous Homes Made From Shipping Containers

Yeah, it's a lot like that. I just tested the link. It works. It may have been down when you tried. I'm seriously considering some kind of alternative home, maybe one made with shipping containers. We spend so much of our lives paying off mortgages. It would be great to be able to create a home that you don't end up paying for the rest of your life.

I hope they aren't finished with the outside. It needs something more.

The inside is very nice though & that's a great idea.

I'm pretty sure those ARE shipping containers, like I linked to in my post.

In the 1st pic, you can clearly see the container strapped to a flatbed trailer. Semi cargo trailers aren't corrugated on the outside. That wouldn't exactly be aerodynamic being hauled down the hwy at 60 mph.

Plus, semi trailers are incredibly flimsy compared to cargo containers. It'd be like comparing a cereal box to a cardboard shipping box.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering what the difference was. I've heard that shipping containers are a great choice because they're so strong and can be modified via welding.

Nice way they did the inside.
The dooms day preppers use those things also.
