Two Pats Questions: Brady & Brady? Thing on field?

I have two Pats questions, that I hope some of my fellow NFL lovers will have answers to.

1. How come Tom and Kyle Brady don't need a "T." or "B." preceding "Brady"? Is it not an NFL requirement?

2. What are those "things" painted in the grass outside the hashmarks at midfield of Gillette stadium? They are gray with yellow tassels or something. They look kind of like facemasks without the helmet? It has been driving me nuts

My husband asks the same question every time. That's the Gillette Stadium logo, and it's supposed to be a stylized drawing of the stadium. Looks odd to me, too, but that's what they are.

The league must have changed its rules on the names on the backs of jerseys. I noticed the same thing on Kevin Williams and Pat Williams jerseys with the Vikings.

Killer Davis and Leonard Davis jersey both just have "Davis" on them.
