Called Passes as a Percentage of Plays
(excluding last 2 min. of half if all same type of play, last 5 min. of game when margin 9 points or more, and last 10 min. of game when margin 17 points or more, sacks and scrambles count as passes)
Opponent, passes/runs
69% Chi 43/19
67% Ten 45/22
66% NYG 25/13
65% Jax 31/17
63% @GB 19/11
59% @Was 32/22
58% @Hou 25/18
57% @Min 33/25
56% NO 33/26
56% @NYG 25/20
52% Det 29/27
43% @Ind 32/42

Regardless of game situation, we are running the ball more. In normal game situations, we've passed less in the last 4 games than in any of the previous eight.

Besides the more balanced play calling, there is something else these last four games have in common. Our pass defense has held the opposing QB under a 90 rating.

Opposing QB Rating by Week
McNabb 63.4
Cutler 136.7
Schaub 77.7
Young 97.6
Favre 106.9
E. Manning 100.4
Garrard 157.8
Rodgers 131.5
E. Manning 88.3
Hill 89.8
Brees 86.7
P. Manning 75.4

Interesting to hear Aikman say during the game that OL coach Houck thought putting the players in pads on Wednesday really helped the OL to establish rhythm. too bad Garrett didn't take over when we started season 1-4.

How about simply breaking it down by:

When Dallas is tied or has the lead.

And

When Dallas is behind.

Then look at those situations in respect to the games. I think you'll see the running % is strictly due to game situation.

we are running more because Romo is out,not that i am complaining.

I humbly and respectfully inform you that it's on you to show this.

I agree, Im not so sure we would be running as much if he were still in the line up.

Plus they are actually running the ball better, and better each week. Putting them in pads has had a big impact on the offensive line play.

The ONLY thing that matters right now is that they are playing with more heart, pride, passion, resiliency and respect for Garrett than they did with Wade. Wade is now gone, and the players need to be PLAYERS.

Stats can be used as crutches/excuses/(fill in the blank). Turnovers are the key stat that is meaningful right now----the Cowboys have caused more, and thus you win more. That is the NFL .

Why does the saying stats don't lie but the people using them do comes to mind?

We are not running more because Garrett sees the light.

Pads in practice means we are run blocking better, thus running with better success.

We have also gotten the lead and ran more to kill clock.

Anyone got the turnover differential since the coaching change?

Whoaaa wait a second. Don't you know this team can't defend the pass?

How dare you post mediocre passing stats of 3 SB winning QB's that defy that FACT!

I am stoked over Garrett, but I feel bad for Wade. He was just being himself and he lost the team. He probably feels pretty crappy watching them win now, but I'm sure he's happy for them on some level.

Running better probably had something to do with playing three out of four games against the worst run defenses in the league (Colts - 30, Lions - 28, Saints - 24).

These two stats just might have something to do with that.
Kudos to Garrett for adjusting. When Kitna took over, I thought for sure it would fall apart. I thought he'd have Kitna throwing 50 times a game and it was going to be a complete mess. Maybe he's actually learned something on the job.

And even at that, the RB's were only averaging 3.8 ypc under Garrett coming into this game.

Isn't that contradictory statement? Of course he lost the team because he was a soft guy, like Bryan Broddus posted here, doesn't pay attention to details etc. That kind of coaches never have long term success. Thats why he never lasted anywhere.

On top of it, you got the circus enabler Jerry, who always gets too full of himself with success. That was a recipe for failure eventually.

Right, before that he couldn't get a job as OC anywhere....
