Two things Wade hasn't got the say-so on. Or does he?

Let us pretend, for a minute, that Wade as HC has some say.

If he does, he does not have the heart or the guts or cajones to do what needs to be done.

If he is bold, he'd announce that Dez is the starter (if not now WHEN?) and Roy sits

AND that Felix is the FEATURED starter and Barber takes an ancilliary role in blocking and short dumpoffs and the occasional bullying into the end zone.

For the sake of the cowboys future. Do not delay these two talents.

There, two new starters, Dez and Felix.

Dynamic.

You know it and I know it and Bob Dole knows it, Wade has not the say so and jerra has not the guts.

But blue-collar mens, it needs to happen soon for the coaching staff and owner to gain some credibility on the direction the team is taking. Or not taking.

When I was preparing for my Imperial Report this week, I came across an article on BSPN Dallas about Jerry Jones answering some questions. In one of his answers, he said that Wade Phillips has some input on the offensive side of the ball, but it's more related to field position.

So he really has no input.

Shocker.

Here it is! I found it. I don't have the link for it; I printed it out here. The title of the article is "Jerry Jones clear up coaching confusion" and it was written by Tim MacMahon:

"Does Phillips have veto power?

"He has more than that. He certainly does rely and depend and delegate to Jason regarding the offensive playing calling Let's make that real. Wade can call anything he want to out there, or stop any call."

How much influence do you want Phillips to have on the offense and offensive play-calling?

"I've always thought someone with his background and his knowledge of defense could be in a better shape than really an offensive coach to evaluate field position, evaluate the swing of the game."

If it's true, why doesn't Wade do anything? You know, I think we need a "stronger" head coach not so much for the players as we do to override some of the crazy calls Garrett makes.

Just wondering where Wade has only won one playoff game since he has been there.... I f he does'nt take them to the playoffs or even if he does take them and they don't win a playoff game.Does Dallas keep him as head coach?

If Wade doesn't get this team to at least a conference championship game, he should not be retained for the 2010 season.

He's an offensive coordinator and co-team spokesman with Jerry.

Very little more than this.

Gimme, you so crazay! You stirrin' up tha pot thinkin' ah we gonna fall for this pecking order nonsensical babbles of yers.

It's going to have to stop, gimme. Or I'm going to have to call the Farmer's Branch of the Fighting Idiots law enforcement agency on yew fer makin' stuff up that aint true.

In the movie Space Balls, which I happen to give 7 out of 5 starz, they don't be dealin' in absolutes.

On the Cowboys, Wade isn't foolish enough to cause a stir with pecking orders. He's got bigger yawd birds to fry, gimme.

What's the point?

I want you to go down to that Creek, near the Farmer's Branch post office, and sit there on a tree stumps. And gitcher head clear, gimme. Pecking orders are for the birds, like the Eagles and what not.

Ahs a wonderin':

Will the Eagles name Kolb or McNabb as their starter.

All this time I thought he was a defensive coordinator.

As far as I have read all coaches, past and present have unequivocally stated that Jerry does not interfere with the coaching. It has already been cleared up that Wade can exercise his head coaching authority as much as he wants to and that he has periodically delegated to Jason Garrett.

The problem may be that Wade Phillips may defer too much or be a little too passive on the offensive side of the ball - not that he has to be involved in every decision. From what I have read Wade had similar issues when he was the head coach with the Broncos and was minimally involved with special teams along with the offense because he was perhaps over-relying on those coaching professionals.

Even on Cowboys defense Wade had a tendency to defer until he realized (with an assist from Jerry late 2008) that he couldn't let an in-over-his-head Brian Stewart keep not fully preparing his defense.

There is no doubt Wade Phillips is a brilliant defensive coordinator who defensively game plans exceptionally well. The players and coaches also genuinely like him. I think Jason Garrett is actually brilliant as well but that doesn't mean his relative inexperience can't come back to bite this team from time to time.

So my viewpoint is if you want to get on Jerry then get on him for hiring Wade and or Jason but this head coach controlling crap is not only unfounded but has been debunked. But critics in here just love to mindlessly repeat and accuse Jerry of that anyway. Also GMs do bring up concerns or provide input to their head coaches and even provide personnel resource support or direction. I guess it is too much to expect fans to be balanced in their thinking in the face of a frustrating loss.

That isn't what Jerry said. I watched that interview. He said Wade has final say, period. In fact he said Wade has total control of the plays called.
