And we probably should have beaten them both.

I think that we might be a lot better then anybody else in the NFC and could make a decent run at this thing if we could only shore up our DL a little bit.

As bad as we've looked defensively, I'm starting to think that our identity is on the OL. We've had some issues but we are looking better and better IMO. I really like what we've been able to do with the OL thus far.

Our season will only go as far as our offense can carry us. The defense is far from stellar.

Yeah the road games are coming now. If they can do well up to Thanksgivings then we'll know if they're for real!

Don't know about that. The Saints are pretty darn good and on paper, are probably the worst match-up for us.

If Gates and Woodhead really took it to us in SD, imagine what Graham and Sproles will do (with a better QB and better offensive coordinator).

Not to mention, we seem to struggle against 3-4 defenses so imagine what it will be like when we have to face someone that knows our guys inside and out with Rob Ryan.

Packers are still pretty good. I don't want to go to Seattle either.

So far we're pretty average, but luckily so are a lot of other teams. If we can get the right match-ups we have a shot, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anybody else in the NFCE? Or the NFC? I'd agree re: the East, though this week will tell us that for sure. NFC is obviously a different story.

I think the Cowboys can stake a claim to be as good as anybody else in the NFC. The 49ers, Seahawks, Packers, and Saints all have warts as well.

I guess I'd have to go with the Saints as my NFC front-runner for the time being, but there is a lot of football left to played.

We're doing OK for a team playing couch guys while learning a new defense at the same time. We need to get better, though, and quickly.

Denver can say the same. KC is the team to beat, at the moment. I think they beat Denver. I also think Indy can give Denver a run for it's money.

Offense we have weapons as good or better than anyone in the NFC. Defense, not even close if Ware is out.

If this team succumbs to chuck-ball and abandons the running game just because Murray is out then it does not bode well for the future. The offensive line still has problems in blitz pick up, as the ridiculous throw by Romo showed. How he made that play was astonishing. Sweep the division and Dallas is in at 7-9, or don't and hope Philadelphia is more uneven the rest of the way. Dallas should be able to get 4-5 wins over the rest of the schedule.

I think you mean the Cowboy's passing game is as good as anybody else in the NFC. The running game is OK.

I don't think it has anything to do with 34 teams. I think it has everything to do with Powerful interior OL play. Fredbeard is very good for a rookie but I don't believe he has mastered it when he's up against a player that is as strong or stronger then he is. Both San Diego and KC had very powerful interior OLs. That's more of a problem for us then 34 defenses IMO. The Saints don't have that. Bunkley is undersized for a NT. Hicks has decent size but he's not a Luiget or Poe. Jordan is an impressive athlete but I'd take that matchup and feel pretty good about it. San Fran and Seattle are the matchups I would fear more because they are very physical up front. I'm not afraid of the Packers.

I suspect that what we will see are both Leary and Fredbeard improving as the season goes on and actually getting better and better. I suspect that Waters will also improve as he gets into better and better shape. The only thing that could prevent this OL from improving as the year goes on is injury IMO.

I do not think KC can hang with Denver. Peyton will be the difference. I think Denver's offense is better than KC's defense.

You do realize our D (and ST) carried us to a victory over the skins, right?

Yes I realize that but I also have seen enough of our team to know our offense is the better unit on our team & our defense is lacking.

Tony will just have to pass a zillion times a game to win.

If we dont beat ourselves then we can pretty much beat anybody. But then again, you can say that for a lot of teams.

Romo throwing the ball a bunch might get the Cowboys in the playoffs, however, the chances of advancing beyong the 1st round or two of the playoffs with a defense hemorrhaging 400+ yards a game is unlikely.

I am still hopeful the personnel will get more comfortable with the Kiffin 4-3 as the year goes on and the defense can improve to respectability.
