A week ago we were waiting for Washington to cut half their team. Now they've signed half the available FA's and looking for more. Is there in fact a salary cap?

This is purely posturing on the part of Law's agent. He's prolly trying to get GB to offer more.

I think the football salary cap has somehow morphed into the baseball salary cap where you can go as far over the cap as you want to with no ramifications. Makes no sense!

Joe Gibbs likes veteran players on his team. He can sign all the FAs he wants as long as he has no plans to re-sign the young talent with contracts coming up for renegotiation in the near future.

Law is not going to DC. This is agent speak, pure and simple. If you were a player agent wouldn't YOU throw Washington into the conversation?

Besides, aren't the Poston Brothers the agents for Ty? I doubt that the Skins will EVER deal with those two boneheads again.

Washington gained a ton of cap space from contract restructurings (which pushed more of 2006's paid money onto the caps of future years) and 7 more million from the new CBA. They've also paid most of their free agents large signing bonuses of which only 1/6 or 1/5 counts towards this year's cap. In this manner even the richest FA they've signed counts only 3 million against this year's cap.

They will be hosed only if the cap does not continue to increase as planned or if something goes wrong (like when Coles had to be traded and they were forced to take a 10 mil cap hit last season).

Dallas used to borrow against the future in the 1990's when everyone thought they had no chance to pay everyone. I remember being really worried in 1996 and then suddenly they were under the cap and eveything was fine.

No seriously though... Can someone explain to me how Washington can keep signing these high priced players. Don't give me a "Lil Danny and Paul T are best friends" response. I want to see the numbers, how are they able to continue to do this year in and year out.

Evidently no cap.
