Tyler Booker looking to bring ferocity to the OL

Hoffman was an exclusive rights FA, there’s absolutely no reason not to resign him as he’s your primary backup at 2 positions. That said, he’s limited. He’s not someone you really want starting for long periods or DCs are going to break down the film to expose the limitations that made him an UDFA.
Outside of desperation due to injury there’s nothing that makes sense about moving Tyler Smith to tackle.
Same reason they never moved Martin. You don’t move a guard with all pro potential outside to be an average Tackle!
First of all, I disagree but at the same time I agree...

it should only be done in a move to get the best 5....

if they need to put him out there we have done it larry Allen played both positions pretty good probably could have been a Hall of Famer at either.. I believe he played tackle for at least three years and moved over there whenever they needed him I get he's a Hall of Famer guard but Tyler Smith's the same type of dude that could be good at either position it's better to have your best five...

so sometimes you just got to do it to put the best 5 on the field and we can't wait i'm sorry i'm not going to agree with you it needs to be done only as a last resort but we need to go into game 1 with a clear plan the best 5 need to be out there playing their best from game one no messing around for eight games trying to get it worked out as Mike McCarthy doesn't understand what he did wrong last year and now I'm glad he's gone..

I get that he's an all pro left guard but he was really good as a rookie at left tackle and you're telling me if he worked at it through training camp he can't play at a high level out there if needed we could play Hoffman at either right or left guard put the new rookie in at 1 of the guards move guyton back out to right tackle or have him fight with steele, it's not that hard to figure out in your mind that it can work out that way...

You best leave that open for a possibility like I said it'll be something they decide to do if camp and preseason isn't going well with the group they hoped and they got to make a move they can't wait till the season...

Cmon man.....do you really believe 1st year HC said this? Or more than likely jerry told him to say that to make it look like the coach is empowered? We all know jerry will NEVER EVER do that...but somehow make it look like he is....
Oh I don't believe it at all, but they really do like him. I guess it was only right to give the offense the 1st pick

Travis Frederick was the 31st pick. Nobody would be complaining if Booker was the 31st pick. He was the 12th overall.
This wasn’t a loaded draft. You can’t look through the lense of past or even typical drafts.

What can’t miss prospect would you have taken.

You’re putting way too much stock in testing numbers.

You act like this dude came out of nowhere and doesn't have a name his dad was a head coach for decades he's been on this roster but he's coached on Super Bowl teams you know with the Seahawks he's not a new Virgin coach not even from college just because he's the first time head coach doesn't mean he ain't been around the block this dude's probably been building a binder and notes full of what he would do and say if he ever got the opportunity so don't be selling this dude short like he don't know what he's talking about....

You guys can keep saying that Jerry hires guys to be his puppets and they say what he wants and only what he wants and you'd be very wrong you guys could keep trying to sell it but don't sell it to people who know jerry actually tries to appease his coaches and gives them opportunities to make suggestions and a lot of draft picks were picked by either assistance or head coaches they literally are they bring this to Wilma Clay and then when it comes time to make decisions on the roster they all make it together sure Jerry as any owner would have the final say..

Until further notice, I will believe anything Brian Schottenheimer has to say until he gives me a reason not to... that's how it should be stop acting like some of these moves are all Jerry, they're not all Jerry , jerry pays a big scouting department he pays a department that also breaks down film they have an analytics department with BIG powerful machines called computers, you realize there's 1200 employees if you count all the players that Jerry manages under the Dallas Cowboy umbrella?

To think he does is by himself?? give me a break, there's so many layers to this team that you're unaware of and some you may be aware of but you think Jerry just sits up there with a gavel and just does what he wants no he doesn't if he did what he wants Johnny Manzel would be here and many other options when they go offensive line that's the least shiny thing Jerry can do if Jerry really was looking for attention if Jerry really wanted all the glitz and glamor he would have picked Sanders, or he would have picked the top running back and wide receiver that fans really wanted if this was just about selling tickets he would not have picked an offensive lineman especially a guard where everybody said not to...

When it came time to pick there was no AJ at running back there was no TET those were the top two guys so they talked about at least from what I understand it was a toss up between Walter Nolen the defensive tackle and this guy they decided after running numbers they said it I don't know what machine they use and what mock they use but all the way up till they made the pick they ran it through a machine and they came to a conclusion that Booker was the best choice this was not done by Jerry alone...

It wasn’t he was good as a rookie…he just didn’t completely **** his pants as everyone on here spazzed he would when Tyron went down. The 6 sacks and 13 penalties were about the same as the tackle taken around 12 by Seattle (maybe) and he was being labeled a bust after his rookie season.
Give Guyton and Asim a season with an actual running game and a decent scheme/coaching … then go get a tackle if need be!

Nah, how do you know how I am acting?....Until further notice.....Until jerry shuts his piehole for a season and stays outta sight...outta mind.....then I may be convinced the coach has some type of leverage/power over the team......but we all know that wont happen....jerry is an 'ole fool at this point......so until this happens which it wont...i may believe a change is taking place....otherwise you are living in the twilightzone....or world....whichever you prefer....

The penalties are the major issue. I have no doubt that Smith can play LT at an acceptable level, but hes a bit of a penalty machine even at guard....moving him to LT is only going to make that situation worse. I have no issues bumping him out as a plan B, but I'd rather him be a top level guard in the league rather than give you average production at tackle.

Plan C!
I’m giving Guyton and Richards every opportunity to win the position and be a long term starter!
Then I’m getting someone else next year!

That doesn't mean right now he couldn't be a really great left tackle he was a rookie but we saw that he could be a better left tackle than what we have now that's all it's important so you can keep sending this at me and I'm going to disagree if needed he would be our best option at left tackle as our roster sits today that's what I'm saying i'm standing by it and I'm saying don't be surprised if it happens...NEXT

That doesn't mean I'm not going to give it a chance I said in the end if we see more of what Guyton is doing and he can't handle it then we're going to need to make a move , easy Guyton to rt battle with Steele and Left tackle is Smith LG is Hoffman..

I'm putting very little stock in his testing #s and just looked them up when I saw his RAS in another thread. I don't have can't miss players but see at least 9 I'd have taken before Booker including Donovan Jackson. I may have even taken Zabel before Booker due to his versatility. I'm sure Booker will be a good guard for the Cowboys, but he did nothing to move the needle for this franchise and I don't think they're a better team after round one. He's an upgrade over Hoffman. That's it. I personally hoped for a difference maker not an upgrade drafting this high.

I saw every game that Schottenheimer’s Jets played when they went to the title games 2009 & 2010 - those Jets teams were physical, run it down your throat, football teams with mean offensive lineman -,Nick Mangold DB Ferguson Alan Faneca Matt Slauson and others. They also had big physical wide receivers downfield blocking
They were built around a ferocious offensive line - Thomas Jones in the backfield and a few other backs.

Well, I’m not overly crazy about this pic. This is definitely a Schottenheimer pic along with the guy. We just got from Arizona to coordinate the run game.

Not leverage or power, consensus,

they value his opinion and his input and I've seen this in the past if assistance can get guys picked in the draft like Taco and Hill you damn right the coaches have a say in that room they bring what they need and their input to Wilma Clay will McClay brings it to Jerry, its either he's all about glitz/ glamor to have the glory of selling tickets, or this is done by consensus.. you can't have it both ways.

Seriously it only takes common sense to understand this if you believe Jerry is all about money he wants all the hype he wants to bring attention in Phillips seats why would he do that with a right guard? Why would he take taco or mazi those were not his picks jerry doesn't know much at all, about the college game he has those people that bring him these names, and yes in the end it's up to him to reject it or accept it, but he does have input he has a big staff and you can keep saying it's not but you don't have common sense you have hate in your heart you want to believe what you want to believe, because you don't like him and I get it!!

but you're wrong you're dead wrong I can look at all the pics and tell you they weren't done to fill up seats they weren't a Jerry Pick they were a consensus pick this is a deliberation that goes on with big groups of people all offseason all year long they have a list and then they go by their list and in the end of course all owners have the final say...

He does not bring names into this he doesn't know 75% of the names especially going into today but of course on Saturday,

Jerry doesn't know who these people are that's why he has people it's called delegation it's a big group big departments that do this he does not just sit there with a dart board and a gavel and say this is where we're going no he doesn't know these names he didn't bring Mingo here he didn't bring Trey Lance here in the end it was his decision to pull the trigger on these guys but these names are being brought to him..

You will never change my mind on this jerry does not run this like a 1 name show, he didn't turn this into a $10 billion franchise by making all the decisions, he doesn't know these things, that's why you have departments, they compile the information and they bring it to them and they have a round table and they talk about it that's what the war room is for!!!!!

if he wanted the glory if he wanted a big names, they wouldn't be offense and defensive lineman, that's for damn sure, it would not be those dudes in the first round that's why I know it's not true what you're saying is 100% false in this case you're wrong...

If Jerry was making this pic yesterday it would have been golden it would have been one of the running backs if you don't get that then I can't help you and I'm not having this conversation with you anymore common sense wins over your hyperbole and rhetoric and hate towards the owner//
