According to his Twitter, Tyler Clutts has re-signed with the 'Boys. Lots of fullbacks with Collins, Agnew and now Clutts back in the fold (not sure if that UDFA Jon Davis is still on the roster or not). Plus Geoff Swaim who I kind of thought would play an H-back type role.

I thought this guy made some good blocks to spring DeMarco.

I don't think he's much of a receiving threat out of the position..

But give him another shot..

its guys like him that is the foundation of the improvement in the team last year.

With so many guys gone that were vets in the off-season..

taking back a guy like him is smart.

And Lord knows we are going to need somebody in front of our RBs this season.

Of our current RB..none of them strikes me as being able to dig for that important move-the-chains downs like Murray was famous for.

We'll see.

We will now, or should qualify for a 4th compensatory pick, and get a 7th from Jed Collins being released. This is a good move.

I was all for upgrading Clutts at FB, but not complaining about him being back. Maybe they wanted him back and needed to work through a contract. But signed Collins as insurance.

And we still have 3 FB's, not 2. Clutts, Agnew, Jon Davis an UDFA. Then I still think they toy with using a TE in this situation too. Like Swaim.

It's bad when you fail to make an impression when all that's taking place is conditioning work.

I get the impression that the Cowboys have a low tolerance for fringe players that are not in peak condition.

They kept OL Hawkins on the 53 all of last season as an inactive developmental player. They cut him in May. Considering the timing of the cut, it almost had to be because he was not in shape.

Weems on the other had has hung around for 2 years without doing anything; however, in a radio interview with Fred, the host asked him who looks really good in the weight room this off-season and he said Weems.

Possibly. Gives Garrett the ability to make an example of players without cutting anyone significant.

Anytime a player is cut in Early May, it has to be something other than ability. Either those guys didn't adhere to the off-season weight lifting and conditioning program OR they got into some kind of trouble.

Just did a cursory search on Collins and conditioning and it doesn't appear to have ever been a problem for him before, so the issue probably was something else.

This was about Saints players who did not have to participate in the mandatory conditioning test because they received a golden ticket:

In order for a player to receive the ticket or more accurately a pass, they needed to have perfect attendance from the Saints offseason and conditioning program. Since it’s not really mandatory, Vitt gave the players a little something for their effort.

So far, players that have taken to social media to express their joy are quarterback Chase Daniel, fullback Jed Collins, offensive tackle Zach Strief, offensive guard Eric Olsen, kicker Garrett Hartley, and wide receiver Joe Morgan.

Possibly, but if the team knew they'd rather have Clutts and Collins had little chance to make the roster, maybe they wanted to give him a better chance to latch onto another team.
