Steal? Transferred to pursue His Masters . . . He patterns His Game After Jamal Adams . . . 4.3 speed . . . 6-1 210 Chess Piece

I'm confused by him. He has great measurables for playing the free safety position, but he's seen more (and played more) like a strong safety or linebacker. Nothing wrong with having a fast SS, though, especially if his downfield coverage instincts are questionable.

I love the idea of a Fast safety. . . if He can pull it all together mentally He could make the team as Special steamer to start off. . . I am intrigued

I think his measurables are similar to Jeff Heath's, but Coyle seems to be a more physical safety while Heath was better in coverage.

It would be monumental for the Cowboys if he turned out to be the next great UDFA safety like Bill Bates, Michael Downs or even Cliff Harris.

Both Harris and Downs were Day #1 starters and had awesome rookie seasons.

Of course Harris is a Hall of Famer, six consecutive Pro Bowls, three consecutive 1st team All Pro. He was a violent hitter, some of the things he would do would earn him a lifetime ban today. The rules were different back then. But the point is, he was a true "last line of defense". The guy could tackle.

If Coyle was anything like Harris, it would be like getting a free starter in the one position where the Cowboys could use such a miracle,

..........Yes.......I know.....But a guy can dream, can't he?

I am looking for Physicality . . . seams to be the growing tend with Parsons and Keanu heads are gonna roll this year. . . I want People thinking twice before they enter the Middle of the Field

My favorite UDFA. Followed him when had transferred to Purdue (don’t know why I cheer for Purdue). But enjoyed watching his game

Hopefully he can make the squad and knock out Kearse or Thompson

That

Thats alright the Message is sent and Wrs and Rbs start making Carear decisions.

Ala Ray Lewis Ravens and Chancellor Seahawks
Hey I'm all for it....but the league isnt.

All about maximizing profits under the guise of player safety. No news there.

Also the fines aren't cheap for guys not on a second contract. It's a deterrent for sure.

Guys just don't play that way anymore and it's a worse game for it.

He'll surely be tested but he'll likely have to prove he's desirable first. He might well have a chance with such good measurables, especially, if he's able to provide the ability to cover both run and pass. That's quite a rare ability to find, though. Good luck to him, if he's able to compete successfully with the safeties that we already have in house.

The knock on Coyle is he lacks instincts. His recognition is poor and he gets stuck in the mud as plays develop. Given his athleticism, I think signing him as a UDFA is definitely a good move, as a project. I love his speed too, but the problem the Cowboys have had at safety has been guys who are not instinctive players. Heath was fast and athletic too and he was usually a step late getting over in coverage. There is hope for Coyle, but I do not expect him to be much of a player in 2021. I would love to be wrong, but instincts are not easily taught.

If there is one thing this defense needs it is to stop busting coverages. That means DBs with good instincts have to know what they are supposed to be doing.

You think Jeff Heath wasn't physical?

Plus, he's still excellent in coverage...

Cowboys would be wise to bring Jeff Heath back!

Heath liked to deliver a blow, but he wasn't all that great at tackling. That's why when we tried him as the starting strong safety when Church left in free agency and he failed at it. Being physical in this game means more than trying to make a big hit. Heath was much better in coverage than he ever was against the run.

The only person more physical than Jeff Heath was J.J. Wilcox.

Again, it's not about being willing to hit. Heath was willing to hit.

Barry Church is more what you are looking for from a physical safety. He would hit, but he also knew how to break down and not miss the tackle while trying to deliver the hit. From what I've seen and understand, Coyle is more like that than like Heath. However, there are questions about Coyle's coverage instincts that might limit him to being a strong safety despite his measurables.
