Tyler Guyton vs Nate Thomas at LT?

Nate will most likely be an OG. I like him and his toughness, but he most likely doesn't possess the feet for ORT, much less OLT.
At best a G, but I'll take a backup G in the 7th. I liked him. Was disappointed when he was exposed, but not that surprised. Glad we got him on the field to find out.

I admit I got excited because Thomas made the field a few times and was not a liability.
And then he was.
I do like playing down roster guys, and then if it looks like they belong, keep playing them until they show they don't. Well, that's what we did. We played him and found out.
Gotta look at who's across from him. Nate is a big powerful dude. He shuts down power rushers w/o breaking a sweat. It's the quick edge guys that he doesn't have a chance against. Feet just aren't quick enough, and that isn't going away. He might be a starting OG, hard to say.

Good call.

It's like I'm not the biggest Dak fan but my gosh don't try and sell me on Milton being a capable NFL starting QB.
Better chance that Howell becomes a viable starter.

It isn’t the kids fault.

Nate is a 7th. Red shirted on IR 1st year with us.

The problem is Guyton.

He’s a bust and Dallas knows it.

They ignored it in the draft and took Lawrence at 23.

The Pats took Lomu at 28. All Conference/ Freshman All American.

This is likely all Jerry. It’s an embarrassment.

They took Lawerence because they had been following him for a long time and knew how good he will be. More importantly, they wanted a DE more than an OT because it was deemed a bigger need. Why draft an OT in the 1st when they already have two starters and a decent swing?

Guyton is on the typical path of a very raw rook w/ excellent physical skills. Premature bashing.

Did you watch our Defense last season?

That does seem to be their logic.

They have Eze and Gary though.

But Guyton is a 1st round bust. Ranked 81 out of 89 last season. He can’t block.

They passed on Lomu at 23, an instant fix for the mess at LT.

It’s not like they have any other options at LT. Nate was even worse. 88/89.

It’s a disaster and ignoring it, or asking Tyron to help coach Guyton, will not fix.

anyone that takes PFF as gospel is a fool
Guyton at times played well
the problem was both consistency and staying healthy
now one is up to the football gods but being consistent and continuing to improve is on him
Unlike Mazi who never showed anything, Guyton has

I think Guyton is the better player, but he's not so far-and-away better than Thomas that he's locked into the job. This isn't CeeDee Lamb vs Jonathan Mingo or anything.

If Guyton struggles, I'd be fine with putting Thomas in, rather than giving him the grace to ride out a cold streak.

Guyton would be a much better right tackle than Steele. That's his natural position.

Disagree. His natural position is OLT, but they forced him to play ORT in college due to having a left handed QB. Which hindered his development. And now we have to fix his footwork and technique. He's definitely OTW, if he could just stop getting hurt.

Nate worse than Guyton.

Both bad.

Patriots want Lomu to be their RT. A bunch of teams drafted other OTs over Lomu.
