Since we most likely won't be taking a TE in the second, I'm focusing on Higbee.

He's 6'6, 250 pounds, and has a projected 40 at around 4.7. He's projected a third or fourth round pick due to being a breakout senior and injuring his knee late in the season. In 9 games, he 38 catches, 563 yards, 8 TDs, and averaged 14.8 yards a catch. He's an excellent blocker and a great red zone threat.

Check out this awesome game by him in 2014, 6 catches, 99 yards, and 3 TDs

Good player. Would be a nice addition to stretch the middle of the field with Witten unable to do so anymore. Then again, will the coaching staff use him? The mystery of why Escobar was never used makes it difficult to advocate taking Higbee. Was/Is Escobar just not good enough? Or did the coaching staff just drop the ball?

Dunno, think they are looking for more of a blocker. They like the guy from Michigan supposedly.

Why not get a guy who can do both at a high level? If it wasn't for his injury, I think he would have been a little higher on draft boards. So, you could get this guy in the 4th potentially who I believe has a talent level of a second rounder..

Like Higbee too, but not before the 5th. Baylor's Rico Gathers can be had later too. Basketball player with football body and nasty demeanor, 6-8 275 and wingspan of a condor.

I can't find any football video of him. I would rather draft someone that already knows how to play the position

The TE drafted now would not be in the same situation as Fasano, Bennett and even Escobar. The new TE would have the opportunity at a starting position under his first contract. That wasn't the case with any of the previous three. So it's not a two TE offense thing anymore. This is about replacing Witten.

I don't want to draft a TE at all, but I do think Higbee brings it much more than Escobar or Hanna. He's not a passive player. Playing speed is much better than any TE currently on the roster.

Rico Gathers would be as interesting an UDFA or late round option as there is. Although at his size, could end up being a very difficult match up for opponents. And by the time he learned the position in 3 years, Witten is likely at or near the end.
