I was really impressed with Richards' play at LG in the preseason and think he might turn into a better guard than he'll ever be a tackle. Getting those book-end tackles right is the most important thing.
Richards should be given a chance. He always passes my eyeball test and PFF has him at 65 for the last 2 seasons. We also have him for 2 more years.

Go young and cheap. Time to start saving cap to throw into the Dak Bonfire of Cash.

NO COACHING STAFF MOVES AN ALL PRO
it does not happen
There are examples of it being done, but here's the thing with Tyler. He was drafted to be a left tackle. The plan was to start him for a year at guard and then have him take over at LT. Instead we had to start him at tackle, where he played OK as a rookie, and then Tyron wasn't ready to ride off into the sunset, so we returned to the original plan, where he'd be the heir apparent.

Dallas had no idea how the draft was going to fall, so when Tyron left, the plan always was to move Tyler back to tackle unless a player fell into their laps. That happened with Guyton. We could have gone elsewhere, though, so I do think the team liked the idea of keeping Tyler at guard. But a different coaching staff might come in and say that we need to have our best lineman at LT and that will allow Guyton to play at his natural/more comfortable spot at RT.

We'll see. I think our best line going forward might be Tyler-Richards-Beebe-Bass-Guyton. We'll see what the next staff thinks.

Yeah, this was the plan all along. It was talked about amongst the talking heads when we drafted him. History has evolved to lead to him staying at guard, but if the light doesn’t click on for Guyton at LT, I can see the original plan being reevaluated and possibly implemented. Tyler has been so good at guard though, it’s hard for people, including me, to imagine moving him.
