Top 5 OT AAV-

Rashawn Slater: 28.5m
Trent Williams: 27.5m
Christian Darrisaw: 26m
Laremy Tunsil: 25m
Bernard Raimann: 25m

Tyler Smith: 24m.

Tyler would be right after Andrew Thomas at 24.5 m

If there is an issue with him moving to LT, his contract shouldnt be it. His contract is in line with a Pro Bowl caliber OT

Yeah I been meaning to say this. Why do people think it’s a money issue? He’s paid like a top left tackle…..

I also he would be like 27 when its time to extend. Thats another big contract, and his ceiling is much higher at LT. If he is an issue with the move, its more likely his confidence in getting a top 2 or 3 OT contract VS setting the market again at LG. Not what he is making right now

Ill say that if they are having a meeting about it, then the decision is probably made and he is moving to LT

Could any contract talk be over guarantees?

Smith got 96 mil over 4, but only 16.4mil signing bonus.
Slater got 29mil upfront.

Smith got 41.6 mil fully GTD at signing with 81.6 mil guarantees
Slater got 56 fully GTD at signing with 92 mil in guarantees

And I'm sure he wants a heads up in regards to how to train this offseason.

First of all, this is all true, but second of all,

I said this as soon as he started complaining he's paid very well to be a player for the Dallas Cowboys he's an offensive lineman

he'll play where he's told to play and be happy about it...lol

That said,

I just don't think it's a good move long term, it was nice for the fans to finally see it because they've been begging for it for years thinking he'd be better out there because we can put a better 5 on the field..

well for one, he's got this severe tendonitis in his knee, makes him less mobile, You don't want a guy in space that's less mobile.

so this experiment, while necessary, I wouldn't call it a failure, but I would call it not something you would want long term...

.

Slater is also the top paid OT in the NFL. Smith would be 7th. So Im guessing those figures are in line wuth that

It's ridiculous to keep talking about this he accepted the contract not as a left guard i'm betting there's no language whatsoever this says he must play left guard for the money we're giving you today..

Play where you're asked to play within reason they're not asking them to be a quarterback or a center or even a running back He played left tackle as a rookie it's not insane to think that they might try him out there and he's being paid very very well So he if needed he needs to play where they ask him we don't need another one of these Divas on our team Trying to dictate where he plays when he wants to play when he wants to give effort I is but that's not something i'm happy with when I keep hearing that around players.

. We've seen Dan Quinn do this with his players they didn't seem to mind playing linebacker I never heard a complaint like I'm being payed to play S, Bell and thomas played LB..

I mean a lot of players move around I don't see what the big deal is here and I don't know why we're talking about it as if it's a big deal because I did not think long term they got what they wanted when they saw it they know he's got tendonitis they're not going to move him out there long term..

I took the last three games that were relatively meaningless and experimented with the idea...

I doubt that's how they go into 2026 unless it's an emergency..

I'm sorry even at left guard he wasn't playing up to his own standards so if he wants to give some of that money back I'm OK with it when do players do that when they're not playing well or constantly injured are we gonna see Bland go hey I'm sorry I got bad feet i'm gonna give half my money back since I'm not playing anyway did Diggs give any of his money back no they didn't these guys take the money and whether they play well or they're injured they sure are happy then aren't they?

He was way more penalized and had way more negative plays this year than in the three years prior to him getting paid and I know it's because of his tendonitis but he has no reason to be complaining of where they play him he's well paid and I don't care about guarantees..

Believe the issue is he doesn't seem like that's a position he wants to play.

Yeah at this point not even sure what the meeting is for. We need him to be our left tackle.

Actually that's not true what I saw was proof that he should only be a spot starter if it's emergency demands tendonitis has made his movement where he's grabbing and getting penalties even when he's a guard but it's worse out in space you're going to just irritate his tendonitis more making him move more...

So I disagree he does not need to be our left tackle they need to plan for a left tackle next year and probably not going to be Guyton but we need to see what happens with steele first.. But I would hope that they let Guyton play right tackle at least in camp and let him see how he does it in preseason games make them start at right tackle every game in the preseason...

This is the very reason I tell people to stop with these ridiculous wish lists and free agency in the draft with all these players including george pickens.

George Pickens would be nice to keep,

I've said this for the three months if he had a great season, That the Cowboys would be smart to consider franchise tagging him with a first round tender and take the first round pick take the extra 30 plus million dollars and spread it around which would include a free agent whether it's a mid level second tier left tackle but somebody who has starting left tackle experience that's better than what we have we need to get one of those..

I mean this is the only reason I say you can't keep George Pickens he's our only asset that we can get a first round pick out of and it saves the Cowboys over $30 million to spread around to the rest of the team and obviously defense but if we did anything on offense you would draft A WR2 and you would Get a left tackle...

It's not to say I don't want to keep George Pickens but I'm looking at this as a business and as a football team with a cap he is our best asset right now to get this team turned around in one off season that's a lot of money and a 1st round pick that can be turned into multiples can you imagine if we had 3 1st round picks going into this draft the maneuverability that they would have I don't think his loss is going to change dramatically our season in 2026 we can still be successful if we don't have to score 30 points a game if the pressure's not on the offense and if they can block for Prescott better he will find the open guys it does not need to be Lamb and Pickens..

Flournoy and the new drafted wr, holden etc can battle it out in camp.

I mean ,

you could even bring in another guy like we did with Brandon Cooks to help bridge that gap, but we can still be successful without George Pickens is all I'm saying, people are not listening.

He might just want to know what is expected of him and how to approach the offseason as a result. Seems like a fair thing to want from a job.

He plays where the Cowboys need him to play. He will either do it or he won’t. If not move on from him. This me first mentality of the players is part of the reason we haven’t sniffed a SB in 30 years.

It's definitely a money issue. Tyler is the top paid guard in football, not top paid LT. We can debate whether an extra 4 mil is worth complaining about to someone with a 90 mil contract all day, but If your job gave you a raise, and then moved you to another role where the pay is 20% higher than what you're getting, it's a discussion you should probably have, regardless of how good your current salary is.

Yeah, let's just pretend the salary cap doesn't exist......

Remember when we had guys like Larry Allen that wouldn't make a peep about it to the media and just do what was good for the team?

Money won’t be the issue but I think he prefers guard because at guard he’s a all pro player, at tackle he’s a good player
