Tyler Smith in the 1st round

He struggled at the Senior Bowl in a big way.

He also liked to throw his opponent directly at the QBs knees. May look good when there's no one there and it's a one on one, but in a game?!

i would take him rather than Burks, atleast we can work with his athleticism.

Moving to OG makes him a safe pick.

Physical ability to play LT makes him a high up side pick.

His issues in college were due to playing LT without proper technique.

Physical ability can outweigh technique at OG but not at LT.

He could easily become a better OG than Green.

I'm with you on the reasoning. I could live with this pick.

McShay said on his podcast yesterday with Mel that all he's hearing from his sources around the league is that Smith will not get out of the 1st round.
If both Zion and Green are gone....I can see this as the fallback plan. @ least your giving yourself options if Steele sucks....or Tyron gets hurt.

He would be better at LG tomorrow than McGovern.

Strengthwise. He certainly wouldn't get bulled like Williams and McGovern. Quicker DTs who are good at taking advantage of poor technique might leave him lunging and grasping for air. There's a lot of growth potential there, though, since better technique seems to be all he's really missing.

I think they see the physical talents and a moldable piece of clay that has the potential to be dominant. He’s a heck of a roll of the dice.

It looks like this thread turned out to be prophetic.
