The rookie began learning from those greats in May and June. During this off-period before training camp, he learns still. Smith spent several hours last weekend at OL Masterminds, a summit where offensive linemen — most of them active in the NFL but others retired or in college — congregated to share trade insights. There was no better place for a first-round talent focused on honing his technique.

At this fifth-annual summit, Tyler Smith built on past player-to-player conversations with Martin and Tyron Smith. As one example, in the spring, he asked Martin how he avoids being fooled when a defender gives a head fake.

Martin told him he focuses on the defender’s armpit.
I wish I wouldn't have read that before breakfast.

I can see it now, his 1st play in a PS game.
Fans will say he is a bum and a bust, or at best, he needs work if he has a bad play.
But no one will put him in the HOF if he has a great play.

If he cleans up the penalties he’ll be a really good OG.

I think at this point he’s already stronger than Williams was, so even if he commits the same amount of penalties the OL will be slightly improved merely by the fact that the pocket won’t collapse as easily.

What is encouraging about Smith is that he’s a really smart kid. He’s strong as hell, and is super aggressive, which is what the team wanted… but he has a real good head on his shoulders, which will help him the most in being effective early on.

Then, throw in that he is showing real want-to when it comes to putting in the extra work, and I think the odds of him being a day one starter are very, very good.

There's a similar meeting attended by TEs - "Tight End University". It was created and launched last year by Greg Olsen, Travis Kelce, and George Kittle.

Not worried at all about Tyler's development, he appears to have that want to be great, like we saw with an early Tyron.
Broaddus thinks McGovern will be the left guard. He is hoping Tyler can be moved to right tackle to beat out Steele.:rolleyes::omg:

One problem that is common with huge OL who have been able to physically dominate all through high school and college is that they slack off on technique and rely on their physical tools.
That does not work very well in the NFL.
We shall see.

Are you being serious? I don't hate on Broadus as much as some. But that's likely not going to happen, imo.
Broaddus is just saying hot takes to get the conversation going. He hates Steele for some reason. Listen, I old enough to remember when LVE and Jaylon were starting over Micah until the Hall of Fame game.
