Tyler Thigpen 'not OK' with demotion behind Matt Cassel

There was at least one person in Kansas City unhappy with the Chiefs' acquisition of QB Matt Cassel.
Tyler Thigpen, who finished last season as the team's starter.
Cassel, who led the Patriots to an 11-5 finish last season in relief of Tom Brady, is the presumed starter in Kansas City. Thigpen told the Kansas City Star he's "not OK" with that, however, and wants a chance to win the starting job.
“It’s life,” Thigpen told the paper. “Everything happens for a reason. You may not see the reason right now, but I know there’s a reason that they brought a guy in like Matt.
“I’m behind him, and all I’m doing is pushing him, making him better. Hopefully me doing that is going to make this team better.”
Thigpen started 11 games last season and threw 18 TD, 12 INTs and for 2,608 passing yards.
New coach Todd Haley and GM Scott Pioli invested the 34th overall pick in the trade that brought Cassel to Kansas City. So it will be difficult for Thigpen to leapfrog him.
“Unless you come from a high-profile college, you’re always the underdog,” Thigpen, who went to Coastal Carolina, told the Star. “I’m back in that situation again. I don’t mind in that situation.”
