Tyron Smith to sign one day contract to retire as a Cowboy

Tyron played 14 years, Zack 11, right?
Even given some injury issues, Tyron played in 13 games or more 9 seasons. Same as Zack.
Zack's elite play was 6 maybe 7 years. Tyron's elite play was 8 to 10 years.
When they were both in their prime, was it a toss up who was the better player? Maybe. But Tyron played a much harder position.
Given the choice between an elite LT & an elite RG, every team would choose the LT.
The guy who did it longer at a harder position should get in first.
You’re wrong in a number of ways. It makes no difference that Tyron played more years than Zack. Tyron wasn’t as great a player as Zack. Tyron made first team All Pro twice and Zack made first team All Pro 7 times. Tyron had penalty issues and gave up his fair share of sacks. He started missing multiple games with injuries beginning in 2016. He missed over 50 games with injuries from 2016 to 2024. He was only real healthy for 6 seasons. He was a great player but not to the level of Zack Martin. It really isn’t debatable who the greater player was.

I think he should be but I'm trying to tell you Canton historically doesn't think that way and the only thing that matters is their votes not what you or I think. The last Guard they enshrined was 9x pro bowl 8x all pro with 6 first teams (so almost identical to Martin) plus had a Superbowl ring and he was still 6th ballot.......
I’m trying to tell you I don’t agree with you about Canton historically. We’ll revisit this in 5 years.

Zack made first team All Pro 7 times and Tyron made first team All Pro twice. Zack made more first team All Pro’s than Larry Allen and Rayfield Wright. Tyron started getting injured in 2016 and he struggled in a lot of games playing hurt. In some games he looked awful because he wasn’t healthy. He couldn’t even finish some of those games. Injuries affected his play. For you to say he played at an elite level for 8-10 years is totally false.

That's your opinion, which is fine.

Zack rarely moved anyone against their will for the last 3-4 years of his career. That's all on film.

You obviously liked Tyron better but some have Zack as one of the top 5 guards all-time. His 7 first team All Pros speak for themselves. He also made the Pro Bowl in 9 of his first 10 seasons. He only missed in 2020 because of an injury that cost him 7 games. We both have our opinions and have exhausted this topic.

For me it's about being objective based on what I saw from watching all the games. Zack isn't one of the top 5 guards of all time. That's disrespectful to a number of players. He didn't earn 7 All Pro's. They gave him All Pro after the 22 season & 23 season. That's just absurd. I doubt he deserved the one in 21 but as that has been a minute I'll let it slide. Like I said before, he had some elite years but then he began to slide down the scale like all players do. His last two seasons were pretty bad, everyone should agree on that. Gotta get past the hype and look at the reality.

When you can't refute the facts ....
All you provided was your opinion and we disagree. I’m not about to waste all day with you on this. You’re just looking to argue. Learn to agree to disagree.

That's what every player evaluation ultimately is. You keep trying to get the last word. But I agree, let's table it.

That's why you're still here, welcome to the group. As for the players, over 90% of players never win a Superbowl....fans cry more than they do. Some around here say players don't care about the team, just the money. These two held out for more money, and we're ridiculed...now, boohoo, they're careers we're wasted. The laughs just keep on coming.
Nothing to show for it in the postseason. End of story. Boohoo
