Tyson Thompson

Did you see BP yelling at AT when he fumbled? Yikes!

A-Train didn't fumble did he?

First thing I thought was, "IS Barber one of those?" like Bill said.

This kid made the team already I think we will have 5 RB's Jones , ATRain , Barber , Thompson and Polite...

Dude, there's no way he is gettting on the practice squad....the only reason he didn't play was because he has already made the team. He's just looking at the other to RBs to see who wants to keep.
:hammer:

I have a hard time imagining either of the young runners here ever making the practice squad. Fourth rounders get picked up unless they're hurt. Barber isn't, and he showed some nice things. Thompson isn't either with his speed and ability to help on special teams. As for the race for #2, I think Bill would have a hard time cutting the one guy in his backfield that has experience. I just about think the Boys have to keep all four of them on the roster if they want to keep them.

Wally Lynn said on the postgame show that Thompson's agent told him that Parcells called him over this week to tell him that Tyson had pretty much made the team...

If that's true, Parcells is now figuring out if he keeps four RBs -- or if three, whether to keep Barber or Thomas.

I doubt they dump Barber and they brought in Thomas to spell Jones.

If we only carry one FB, then probably will carry the other four.

TT will play in the next two, especially the last preseason game...I think BP carries four halfbacks and one fullback...TT will not go on PS...

We better put him on the active roster or wave bye bye to him.....he is too good from what I saw.

Let's see...Tyson Thompson went undrafted in the NFL...do you guys have any clue how many RB's have a draft choice invested in them every year? Me neither, but it's a boatload...lol.

The kid went undrafted...BP promised to "give him a chance" if he did every thing right...the kid didn't exactly have half the league trying to give him a free agent contract.

The kid had one decent preseason game (10 carries for 60+ yards)...do you really think there are a lot of teams licking their lips, waiting for him to be released so they can sign him to their 53 man roster?

No....I think it's very likely he clears waivers. Just because the guy gets all this press on Cowboy websites for a good training camp and has 1 60 yard rushing performance doesn't make teams want to give him a spot...it would be more likely for him to be picked up if he'd done something outstanding on a KO return, but he looked very tentative and ordinary there.

With all the RB's drafted, I think it's very likely he'll clear waivers...we love his speed, but he's very very green...undrafted RB's like him are everywhere across the league...teams aren't going to give him a coveted and valuable spot on their final rosters just because he ran a 4.3 40....if they even know it.

I agree. There are two more pre-season games. I am sure Thompson will get plenty of carries in those games, especially the 4th game when the starters are typically rested.

Barber looked good. He came back after that fumble and ran hard and completely covered up the ball. I think he will be a good back up. I was also pleased with Thomas. He isn't the quickest, but he looks better than Eddie George. His primary role on the team is to be the experienced veteran. I think he will contribute during the season. The running game is still going to ride Julius Jones. He looked good.

I think Parcells was letting A-Train and Barber battle for the 2nd RB job while the loser gets potentially cut. (The loser will be on that bubble of 20 guys for 10 spots)

TT is gonna be here IMHO as a kick returner/ST and his running plays will be few if any this season. He also showed enough to know he can run.

Like with Romo going 3rd and some other guys playing very little it was about making specific decisions.

I hope we dont lose this guy. I was just wondering why he didnt play last night. I know it was a preseason game last week when he did play but i liked what i saw from him.

I think Bill knows Tyson has made it. The real battle is between Barber and Thomas.
This is a good point. Barber has been less than impressive but he was a 4th round pick. I'll be curious to find out if Bill will keep a player around purely because he was drafted. I just can't see us getting rid of Anthony Thomas.

I think the 2nd RB is still up for grabs, they both had there highlights. AT had a few nice runs, but for the most part got stuffed. He seemed to have a switch, that he would turn on/off. MB had a nice game but he's not very big and seems to dance in the hole too much and with his two fumbles, I don't know. I liked what I saw more from AT last night. If MB loses anymore fumbles I'd say PSqd. for sure. Honestly I think we need to look at Tyson Thompson more, he flashed for sure but that was one game, his first against 2nd teamers. Yeah, he has great speed but has a history of fumblitis. Let's see how he does next time out and how handles more carries, everyone knows who he is now and they'll be looking for #28 next time.

and we still have not seen him run between the tackles.

I would have liked to see more of the intangibles from TT, blitz pick-up, catching the ball out of the backfield, getting tough yards up the middle. I didn't see the Zona game but I believe that even if he did these things fine in one preseason game does not mean that he should make the team over A-Train, a starter.

Don't imply I am against him, I just would feel more comfortable seeing him in person and do the little things that R Lee couldn't do.

I really wasn't impressed with TT returning the ball last night. I thought he looked slow with bad vision.

As for the game, the only time he succeeded was running to the sideline.

We don't know if he can:

Run between the tackles,
Pick up a blitz,
Catch the ball,
or Return a kick.

He's going to have to prove much more before he has a spot on any team BP has control over.

As for other teams picking him up... I doubt it... BP has already basically said that the kid can't learn a Playbook without being walked through every play. It would be real tough for him to get picked up by another team and be ready to play in their offense without some serioius time and coaching.
