Never heard of this guy but his measureables are up there with Jordan Willis'. His knock is he's fairly fresh to the sport so he still has a lot to learn. He also played basketball in college at Houston. But he still picked up 8.5 sacks last year.

Here are some numbers just to compare him to Jordan Willis since he has the best measureables in this draft for an edge rusher. His 40 isn't as good but his 3 cone is actually better, which is impressive since Willis' was pretty insane:

Tyus Bowser

Height: 6'3"
Weight: 247
Arm length: 33 1/4"
Hands: 10 1/8"
40: 4.65 seconds
Bench: 21 reps
Vertical: 37.5 inches
Broad jump: 127 inches
3 cone: 6.75 seconds

Jordan Willis

Height: 6'4"
Weight: 255
Arm length: 33 1/2"
Hands: 9 7/8"
40: 4.53 seconds
Bench: 24 reps
Vertical: 39 inches
Broad jump: 125 inches
3 cone: 6.85 seconds

Yeah, 3rd or later. Not in 1st or 2nd, IMO.

I do like him as a developmental prospect though. He certainly has the size and athleticism to do it.

Apparently Kiper just mocked him to the Steelers in the 1st.

Hmmmm.... I don't see him as accomplished enough to take early. There's a lot to work on with him.

On the flip side... there is also a lot to work with as well, so... what do I know.

I still say go for big school production with your first two picks.

Need to at least replace Gregory, crawford and dlaw first

I'm thinking he can sharpen his skills up and replace Mayowa in 2018...not this year.

I would take Willis in the 2nd though.

I think Willis can add 10 pounds and play great at LDE. I suppose Willis could be DLaw's replacement, but I'm still hoping he can bounce back this year.

I think Bowser's gonna be a late riser.

Not a huge fan of his, if it has to be the first.

Haven't watched a ton of him, but from what I've seen he's not a easy player to judge for our scheme. Houston had him back peddling in coverage or just playing outside contain as a standup LB a lot. Didn't get to see him really pin his ears back and try to rush the passer a ton.

I hope we draft him so I can refer to him as King Koopa

Tyrus Bowser (Edge Rusher) Houston

TALENT
ROUND 2

STRENGTHS
Tyrus reminds me of Connor Barwin. He has the talent and football intelligence to play multiply linebacker positions but is a natural OLB/DE for a 3/4 defense. He has very good cover skills and change of direction skills. He has those long arms and legs that make it easy for him to cover Tight Ends and those big receivers. He sets the edge using excellent techniques to keep bigger players off his body and he is quick to control and shed to make tackles. Tyrus is an efficient player and always seems to be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of his opponent’s mistakes.

CONCERNS
Tyrus will make plays when opponents make mistakes, but he doesn’t use his skills to force opponents into mistakes. He also can rush the passer but doesn’t have pass rushing moves. Instead, he relys on the defensive scheme, and opponents mistakes, to make plays behind the LOS.

BOTTOM LINE
Tyrus is a quality football player who plays his position the right way all the time, but he is not a playmaker. He’s efficient and his teammates respect him because of his football intelligence and ability to always play his position with Technique proficiency. Players like Tyrus are starting players but once another player who plays his position (who is more of a playmaker), gets drafted or signed in Free agency, than Tyrus will be replaced. Players like Connor Barwin, Manny Lawson are just two players that come to mind that Tyrus reminds me of. If players like Tyrus are in the right system and with the right coach they can be very productive but once that coach gets replaced, the next coach just might not be so enthralled with Tyrus style of play and that’s when replacing him comes into play. It’s very strange how every team needs players like Tyrus to have a good defense and at the same time; it’s very strange how those same teams are always looking to replace them. It’s the “grass is always greener” syndrome I guess.

If he is there in the 2nd, we haven't addressed EDGE yet, I would be shocked if he is not our guy. I would be very happy to get him there. He will be a bit of a project, but if he was strictly as a RDE, he will be a beast in two years.

Another intriguing DE prospect. I really hope we double-dip at the position.
There was alot of talk about a Leo position when they were coveting Anthony Barr. And I think that was there vision of Bernedick McKinley the next year. Having a player that can be a LB on run downs and a pass rusher on passing downs is possibility with this organization. Problem is those players are exceptionally rare. Something like that could drive interest in Bowser

no pass rush moves at all and no bend to his game,he is a big big project .

I think Hasaan Reddick could also fit that role.

You're right, but you have to possibly into the top 10 for him. Which is the crux of a Leo type player. A player with legitimate LB and pass rushing ability isnt likely to be had where we typically draft. Guys that fit this bill of late, Vonn Miller, Khalil Mack, Anthony Barr, Vic Beasley. And Bruce Irvin was top 15

Bowser was a pet cat, love his versatility. Is a do it all football player on D. But wanted him in the 4th, bottom of first is too rich for us. But Tyus Bowser is definitely a RKG, leaves it all on the field.

I like him in the 3rd round.

Basically, I see him as Mayowa's replacement.

He could even be DLaw's replacement (if Lawrence never gets back to 100%). Bowser would be upgrade from Wilber day one, better than Wilber at SAM or as 4-3 DE.
