just heard its being reported that indications coming out of brazil are that they won't be ready for 2014 and fifa are considering england and the u.s. as potential replacement hosts. completely unconfirmed but thats what sky sports news are reporting

I see several articles about Brazil not being ready, (airports) but nowhere have I seen them say anything about the US and England being replacements. Do you have a link?

sorry, it was on the sports news channel over here yesterday. it makes sense though as they're probably the two countries that are most ready as of now in terms of stadiums and infrastructure. obviously my preference would be for south of the border as i could drive down to games but the u.s. would also be a heck of a lot easier to go to than brazil, russia or qatar

Well, my boycott has officially begun. Completely ridiculous that you would choose a location like Qatar over the United States, given the quality level of stadiums we have now in the US, as well as the US setting still unbroken attendance records back in 1994!

The economic boom that this would have given us can't be denied. Well, actually, it just was :laugh1:

But they knew that it would be an economic boost for us...and maybe that's why we were denied.

But I can't help but wonder about the cultural implications as well - almost all of those pictures shows men in traditional Arab dress going to watch the matches...what are they going to do when some Argentinian or Brazilian girl shows up in spandex shorts and a swimsuit top and then flashes her breasts in the crowd?

I think it'll be a massive failure for FIFA.

Right? I mean, if you wanted seriously blazing hot as a requirement for having this thing, all you had to do was open the roof in Arlington and BANG! Not much difference.

They will probably pass a law saying that you can dress in shorts/tops inside the stadiums or during the tournament, and that you can drink beer inside the stadiums

A Muslim nation holding a soccer event? Hookers and drunken English hooligans hardest hit. I mean, soccer is bad enough as it is, but having to watch it without being drunk? Brutal.
