I saw he was one of the highest paid UDFAs in the league, highest on our team. We really wanted this guy and he has some impressive numbers. Has a good shot to make the 53. He played a lot of hybrid "Cowboy back" at OSU and it's a familiar role for our team, with the TE playing a FB role in the running game, blocking and running routes from that FB position.

RAS. It stands for Relative Athletic Score, and I use it to show either a present NFL player or a NFL draft prospect’s measurements in relation to their position group. The simple explanation for RAS is that it is a relative score that can show any measurement on a scale of 0-10 where 5.00 is always the average for that position group.

I watched him play quite a bit at OSU and he was always pretty impressive. Solid blocker, moved the chains. I think he's more of an H-back type player. He lined up in the backfield quite a bit and OSU would occasionally throw seam patterns to him downfield. Pretty sure he had a TD against West Virginia on one of those plays in 2013 or 2014. If he takes anyone's spot, I'd bet its Keith Smith's spot as fullback. The only problem is he's 6'5, and although he's a solid blocker, it might be tough to do what we ask a fullback to do and get leverage on a player when you're that tall. I doubt he makes the roster this year at TE, but he's a candidate for practice squad at TE and might compete with Keith Smith if they choose to let him play a little fullback.

He also had a pretty hot girlfriend at OSU. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

If Hanna can't go, I really think we will only keep 3 TE on the 53. But this kid seems perfect for the PS

Don't forget we have an OC who likes to get creative with personnel groups. And yes, just on the face of it, I'd say they're interested in the possibility of consolidating a roster slot, half FB, half TE.

I could see him snagging Hannas spot
Hanna is now in the witness protection program
One advantage of paying a guy and showing him how he fits in your future plans is he is ok with being on ps for one year. Just like a redshirt but pays much better, well better than most schools

They certainly didn't make an attempt to draft a TE in a deep TE draft. They seem to feel ok there?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Slower than Witten, and would be one of the lightest tight ends in the league.

Those numbers aren't always right on but my guess is they are reasonably accurate. He's not slow but certainly not fast either.

Dude is a good athlete - you're not gonna get a 4.4 40 TE guys.
