Strange night .... Cowboy tries to box with Diaz, Lesnar tries to strike with Overeem, both with predictable results.

And who could have predicted that ending to the Fitch-Hendricks fight!

I wouldn't say Lesnar tried to strike with Overeem as much as he was terrified of closing the distance against a striker like Overeem.

I've watched alot of MMA for nearly a decade now, but I really need to go into my memory bank to find a fight where a fighter was as scared of getting hit as Lesnar was tonight.

Literally, Overeem had this fight won before he even went into the cage tonight.

On the bright side ..

JDS vs Overeem

The best boxing in the HW division versus the best kickboxing in the HW division. If someone likes knockouts, you'll probably want to pay to see this one.

Can't say I was surprised that he announced his retirement afterward. At least he emerged from the bout without taking too much damage although that one body kick looked devastating.

What did you think of the Cerrone fight? I've seen him a couple of times and was surprised that he looked so slow and sluggish against Diaz.

Not that shocked about the Diaz vs Cerrone result.

Cerrone has fantastic striking, but he has the head movement of someone like Big Nog. Cerrone may actually have worse head movement than Big Nog if someone really pushed me to answer who is worse at it.

Diaz just exposed that lack of movement with a lot of straights right down the pipe. The other thing he allowed Cerrone to do is overextend. By that I mean Diaz had FANTASTIC movement on some of his punches, namely his counter hooks which set up numerous combinations for him. Diaz would throw a half-hearted jab, Cerrone would overextend with a punch to Diaz who would then counter with a hook from the same side.

Of course there was plenty of times Diaz just stood in the pocket and threw down, eating plenty of strikes himself. But that's just the type of fighters both those Diaz brothers are. They will eat a strike or two to throw back a 4-5 punch combination of their own.

Nate has really turned into the 155lbs version of his brother to the point it is scary. The striking, the BJJ, the attitude, the facial features. :laugh2:

One would have to assume Nate will get the winner of Edgar vs Henderson.

Wow.

I've only read the happenings but it seems like Lesnar was slaughtered.

Cerone can strike, he just let Nate get in his head. He never fights the way he tried to fight Nate, he came into the ring hot just like Nate wanted and obviously had no designs on testing Nate's ground game, he wanted no part of a jiu jitsu match, so obviously the plan was to stand. I think he got gassed early and adrenaline dumped.

Brock is a poser. Always has been. Being an absurd athlete was all he ever had, dude was never meant to be a fighter.

Nate could out box Edgar because of his reach and his boxing is on par with Edgars, but if he fights Henderson, he's going to lose. I think Henderson is going to win the belt and he ain't gonna give it up anytime soon, he's pretty nasty.

And JDS vs Reem!!!! I've been dreaming of this matchup for years. I give the edge to Overeem because he's not just a boxer, but man, that's gonna be a fantastic fight.

I watched the fight the other day and it was almost painfully embarrassing for Brock.

I've never seen a guy so unconcerned with his opponents striking. Reem basically walked into a clinch about a half dozen times and landed knees at will.

The kick to the side was brutal.

Probably one of the most lopsided fights I've seen. Brock had literally nothing that scared Overeeem.
