That was a horrific break, for sure. It's all over the internet if you really want to see it. Freak accident...reminds me of the Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware freak injury last year somewhat.

Not really an accident. Silva had already hurt his leg on a Weidman knee check in the first round. It could have very well already had a hairline fracture and that last kick was too much. Stuff happens in MMA and the better fighter won again.

Tate's sheer toughness is the only thing that kept her in the fight for so long, although she got out of a jam or two, she really had no chance.

Basically true although the few clean shots she got on Ronda caused a facial expression from Ronda that I had never seen. Looked like fear and doubt.

Ronda is way better than Miesha who is basically a mediocre fighter with a ginormous heart but other women will beat Ronda. Cyborg would destroy her and a good boxer with defensive wresting could get her.

Oh, well I didn't see any of the fight other than the clip of the break.

It was almost as bad as when Corey Hill snapped his leg a few years ago:

Some are claiming that Silva's injury was a freak injury. In truth, the snapping of the shin bone in that manner was a rare injury, but when a fighter runs full power into a kick which connects on the opponent's knee, it's not uncommon.

Within that scenario, it is a very common outcome that the shin will be injured to some degree. Whether the fighter can fight on it or not, he will not want to kick again too soon, and that is the purpose of checking with the top of the shin and knee.

No, freak injury implies it was simply misfortune. There was nothing accidental about Silva getting hurt. When a hard kicker kicks a knee, he hurts himself. Sometimes it's enough to finish a fight, sometimes it's just enough to stop him from kicking for a while, but kick a knee Silva did.

millions of leg kicks gets checked every day in gyms around the world and its exgremely rare to hear of these injuries so its hard to give weidman to much credit for a freak accident

Most people check kicks with the shin, not the knee.

I'm not giving that guy credit for a freak leg injury to Silva. That's hilarious that anyone would want to give him credit like he accomplished something with that.

Sad way for his career to end. He will be too old by the time he's fully recovered from that.

How can you not give Weidman credit? I watched the fight and he was doing good.

I'm not giving him credit for how it ended. People seem to want to give him credit for the fact that Silva broke his leg kicking him. I saw the fight and he was doing good from the fight standpoint and he very well might have beaten him in the end anyway. I'm not debating that.

I'm not going to give the guy credit for a guys leg breaking though, from that guy kicking him, as if he accomplished something there.
