But ESPN “Monday Night Football” analyst Jon Gruden shares Irvin’s enthusiasm for the Cowboys and their chances of mimicking the Giants’ improbable runs after the 2007 and 2011 seasons.

“I like Dallas,” Gruden said in a conference call this week. “I’ve got a real feeling about Dallas. I call their defense the UFO defense — unidentified flying objects — because I’d never heard of anyone on that defense at the beginning of the year. They play extremely well as a team. I would say the Giants teams of '07 and '11 have very little in common with our team. If the idea is "sneaking up on people" it's hard to do when you are tied for the best record in the NFL.
