Uh, anybody off the Wade bandwagon

I've never been on the "Coach" Wade bandwagon. Won't be even if the Cowboys win a Super Bowl, which will happen in spite of Wade coaching - which I don't believe it will.

However, I am a passenger on the "Defensive coordinator" Wade bandwagon. :)

Good then Wade was not at fault what so ever yesterday. If he has nothing to do with the wins then he has nothing to do with the loses. Good to know. :laugh1:

Let's all repeat after dog boy:

Defense is playing great. Defense is playing great.

Ahem, for once, I'd like to have a defense that plays great and is also in the top 5 in the NFL and not 20th or so. Then I am convinced that they are playing great and not just towel-waving like a Brooking or James. Or a Cassy.

Our biggest problem defensively IMO is just the lack of turnovers. Yards matter, but alot of the yards we've given up have come in garbage time of several games, so the total yards allowed stat is a bit misleading.

We just dont get turnovers and game changing plays. We got 4 sacks yesterday, I cant recall but were any of them on 3rd down? Had we forced some turnovers (save the one the refs blew with the stupid call on Jenkins) it might have flipped the game in our favor.

That (bogus) penalty really hurt this team,if no penalty is called that could have been a difference maker. The thing that bugs me is 3rd down and long, why does this team seem to give up chunks of yardage in those situations.

That happens far too often. In one TD drive yesterday, 3rd & 12 and 3rd & 14 converted into first downs. Unbelievable.

This team has been on the cusp of joining the league's elite franchises since 2006, yet we continually fall a hair or three short. One of our biggest downfalls has been we're simply not a sharp, smoothly operating team -- be it because of penalties, miscommunications, missing opportunities or turnovers.
.

Well said. That's been a constant theme.

Basically, for the past three years, this has been a pretty talented team that plays "sloppy" football much of the time. It may be a penalty (lots of them), a dropped pass, a missed block, a missed tackle ... something always happens.

It doesn't look smooth, or sharp, or disciplined, or smart.

And yet . . . we keep having this team as a highly ranked offense unit.

I say that next year, Garrett will be here. Wade will not.

...rankings don't equal results my friend...it has'nt amounted to anything since 2006

Here's what I found:

3-4-GB 23 (1:16) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers sacked at GB 15 for -8 yards (32-O.Scandrick). FUMBLES (32-O.Scandrick), RECOVERED by DAL-32-O.Scandrick at GB 15. PENALTY on DAL-21-M.Jenkins, Illegal Use of Hands, 5 yards, enforced at GB 23 - No Play

3-6-GB 35 (2:10) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers sacked at GB 30 for -5 yards (72-S.Bowen). FUMBLES (72-S.Bowen), recovered by GB-86-D.Lee at GB 36. 86-D.Lee to GB 36 for no gain (26-K.Hamlin).

3-7-DAL 42 (9:14) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers sacked at DAL 46 for -4 yards (54-B.Carpenter). Penalty on GB-86-D.Lee, Offensive Holding, declined

is this the Wade Head Coach bandwagon? or the Wade D Coordinator bandwagon?

HUGE difference...

Whatever way you spin it, the rankings offer a barometer of how effective a unit is.

When you are 20th, you are below average in the NFL. that is the reality of rankings.

You tell me: Would you rather the Cowboys to be No. 1 or No. 20, Friendo?

I supported Wade last week and still support him today. When the season is done we will see what this team accomplished or failed to accomplish. I’m not a week by week fan

Me neither, I hated it the day we signed his big ole butt and I hate it today.:)

never on it and never will be. if the cowboys luck into a superbowl, i'll dismiss as all players and assistant coaches were reason just like when switzer won a superbowl here.

Except when they don't and when you're using the wrong statistics. Remember? Lies, damned lies, and statistics?

This is one of those situations.

After the first couple of games, the Cowboys were ranked right around 30th on yardage and not all that much better as far as scoring goes. They're now ranked 16th on total yardage and 8th on scoring D. That alone should give you some idea about how much more effective the D has been since the first couple of games. Here are some statistics for you:

During the first two games the D allowed 54 points (the number is misleading as turnovers in Dallas territory led to a lot of points in Week 2). Over the last seven games, the D has allowed 20 or more points twice (20, 21). They have allowed 17 or fewer five times (17, 17, 17, 16, 7). As I've said elsewhere, the scoring D is my real concern.

But..here are the yardage numbers:

During the first two games the D allowed 828 yards. Over the last seven games, the D has allowed over 300 yards 3 times (337, 304, 308) and held opposing Ds to under 300 yards 4 times (271, 298, 297, 283). That averages out to 414 yds vs. 300 yds, a difference of nearly 115 yds a game.

Two of those 17 pt, sub-300 yd gams have come against Philly and Green Bay, two of the best scoring offenses in the league, a fact made all the more impressive by the 12 minute gap in TOP this last game.

The defense played better this week than any week previous and that's just a continuation of a trend. If the D keeps playing like it did tonight and the offense gets things straightened out, Dallas will be very tough to beat down the stretch.

Would it hurt if his D made a stop on 3rs down though?

They made stops on 8 out of 15 (54%), which is worse than the season average, but is still more than good enough to win. The problem was the O only converted on 25% of theirs and didn't convert a single one until the 4th quarter.
