NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Orange juice futures surged Tuesday amid fears the U.S. government could ban Brazilian oranges after low levels of fungicide were detected by a juice company.March orange juice futures jumped 9.6%, or 20 cents, to $2.0775 a pound on the ICE Futures Exchange, which traders said was the highest level since 1977."My guess is that they will ban Brazilian oranges," said Tod McElhaney, president of LaSalle Futures Group. "If that happens, you would certainly see a lessening of supplies that could push prices higher." [....]

What hasn't? It's been creeping along, but it's been steady. Milk, eggs, all have steadily risen.
I went to buy bacon last week, over $7.00 for a package.

It's a war on breakfast!

We buy turkey bacon for $1.25 a package. It's a specific brand that seems to taste better than the others, though I can't recall the brand we buy right now.

It's better for you too. ;)

Processed orange juice of any kind is gross. If I want orange juice I buy oranges and squeeze it myself.

If you doubt this, Google Dr. Mercola orange juice and discover the truth for yourself.

Completely agree. The first time I drank juice that I squeezed from fresh oranges, my eyes were opened. It was great.

I never had turkey bacon, I'll have to give it a try.

If you like sausage try these too. They freaking own! (far better than turkey bacon IMO) They are as good as regular breakfast sausage. I think we get 2 packages for $3. I think they have like 8 or 10 patties in each.

Not just you,but everybody. For the longest time, the word inflation wasn't thrown out there very much. But believe me,if you paid attention to the prices in the grocery store the last couple of years, you know that it's been with us for awhile. Pay attention to the prices of just about everything.
Hmmm.....Turkey bacon???? Gonna have to try that!

Mess with a mans bacon, you're just asking for trouble... Yeah, my bill has grown exponentially in the last year or so and I have noticed.

And Sam I Am, the only sausage I eat with breakfast is chorizo. It's pricey but well worth it.

There is a reason that you are paying $1.25 . It's no good . Being from the South, I was raised to honor the pig . :laugh2:
To the OP's post , OJ price going up is no biggie , but if you hear the same on Coke , please post . Then I will go in full panic mode .

You haven't noticed the price of Cokes and all soft drinks going up? You used to be able to catch them on sale for $2.50 a 12 pack, but not anymore. It's normally around $3.00 a 12 or more, and of course their newest trick is charging you what you used to pay for a 24 pack, but now it's the "new&improved" 20 pack,or even 18 pack!! They have a 30 pack out now,but it's still high. It's all in the packaging, don't ya know?

+1 on the chorizo, but can't get good chorizo up here in the mountains. I normally splurge on Nantahala pan sausage, produced by a sausage company in Franklin,NC. Damn good!
