boy I wanted Vollmer last year the LT playing tonight for Pats

He had some great games since he replaced Light. Well, we traded out of the second round...:banghead:

It's a shame we didn't take care of this problem last year. Loadholdt would have been awesome. Vollmer also.

Loadholt vs. Brewster and Butler.

Hard to argue vs. Loadholt, but remains to be seen with the two we got.

Actually with the way Mays is playing or more importantly is being allowed to play, he may slip. Also, the more my draft geek sees and convinces the Trojan fan in me, Mays is probably a linebacker in the NFL. He's 6'3", 235 lbs and wants to hit people. He just doesn't look for the ball ever, rather he chooses to always try to kill someone. He's a bigger, faster Roy Williams. The popular rumor at USC is that the training stafff has to work very hard to keep Mays' weight down to 235. I can see him being a similar player to Brian Urlacher at the next level.

Back to safeties...
Don't forget Berry and Mays aren't the only potential safeties in this draft. Georgia Tech's Morgan Burnett,(no-good)Longhorn Earl Thomas, LSU's Chad Jones, and UNC's Deunta Williams have all had pretty good years and could sneak into the lower 1st round. I think Earl Thomas would look really good at Free Safety for us for the next decade.

Nate Allens not worth a 1st(for us anyway). But hes a nice prospect in the 2nd

This I agree with. There was a lot of problems we needed to address last year and failed to do so. Right now with out any prospect that we can rely on it looks bleak heading into the 2010 draft. Considering our lack of picks also.

hold your breath until you here we picked Center for our first pick

Yet 50% of the board and our staff were hoping Unger would fall to us at 51.

Who were most people on the board hoping we would pick at 51 then?

Max Unger was the target

The player the Cowboys coveted with the 51st pick was Oregon center Max Unger.

Once Unger was picked two spots earlier by Seattle with a trade up with Chicago, the Cowboys decided to punt on the second round. They did not seriously entertain the thought of moving back into the round either.

According to Jerry Jones, Unger was a player that could come in immediately and compete for playing time. They loved his versatility - he was an all-Pac 10 pick at tackle and center.

Jones said the Cowboys had one player with a first-round grade on their board at No. 51 (Pitt running back LeSean McCoy) and four or five players with second round grades when they moved out.http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***/archives/2009/04/max-unger-was-the-target.html
