Um, When Are We Getting Rid of Hamlin?

Holy schmolies, I knew he has been playing bad and he has been at the very top of my "OVERRATED PLAYERS" list for some time now...

...and that was before I saw that pathetic attempt of a tackle on Mushin Muhammed's touchdown catch. Fortunately, it was called back on a very questionable push off penalty.

Did you guys see that *****' attempt? This guy is an NFL defensive back?!?!?

Questionable? Get some glasses. Muhammed pushed Jenkins back, practically bending him over enough to tie his shoe and then jumped up for the ball. It was an obvious call.

Hamlin, the guy has been terrible.

I'm sure the coaches will take a long look at Ken Hamlin's status next off-season.

We will need to see if Gerald Sensabaugh gets a new contract, how Mike Hamlin plays whenever he returns and if Patrick Watkins is worth keeping as well.

He's the weak link on the defense, IMO.

Not a very good player.

Wow, you need to simmer down. There was a lot of hand-checking going on...on both sides. And I don't think the supposed pushoff affected the outcome. JMHO

But again, *** was Hamlin's attempt at a tackle all about? That was as ridiculous as it gets. I swear, if I were one of his teammates, I would have grabbed him by the facemask and shaken some dang sense into him, like Larry Allen did to our former little Mexican kicker.

That could have been a interception for Jenkins if he isn't pushed. He was in better position than Muhammed. You really do need glasses dude.

I think they need to take a look at his status THIS season. That pathetic attempt at a tackle not only speaks to a lack of talent, even worse, it speaks to a total lack of effort.

Tackling like that can single-handedly lose us ball games. As I said, we are dang lucky the ref called a penalty on that play. Offensive pass interference calls are pretty subjective and I've heard any number of differing opinions on that call.

We are just flat lucky that the ref happened to be one of those who thought it was PI.

Seriously, *** is this guy not being called out during Monday's video review? He should be nothing short of embarrassed.

You're missing the point -- even one of the announcers questioned the call. You believe it was OPI, I get it. But you need to admit that there are many out there who did not think it was. As I said, a subjective call.

It's people like you who choose to hide behind a random PI call that drive me nuts, the reality is that what should have been a twenty yard reception (or however long it was) turned into a long TD catch and run.

Hell, even Muhammed looked surprised at that pitiful attempt of a tackle. LOL

Good grief it was an obvious pass interference call. Try actually looking at the play some time instead of relying on some "announcer". Muhammed actually pushed Jenkins over and then jumped up for the ball. Jenkins had better position for the pass just like on his interception.

Oh, I get it -- you're one of those fellows who gets offended when using the pronoun "we" when talking about the Cowboys, since "we" do not play for them.

Sorry, did not mean to get in the way of your hero worship. Tell your Ken Hamlin Fatboy poster I'm sorry.

No chance.

Safety isn't exactly a strong position when it comes to depth.

Ken Hamlin's primary back-up is rookie Mike Hamlin, who is currently sidelined with a forearm fracture.

Gerald Sensabaugh, the new strong safety, is playing on a one year prove it contract. His understudy, special teamer Patrick Watkins, is also in the final year of his contract.

SS Marvin White was picked up after final cuts for special teams and Alan Ball can play safety in an emergency.

So we aren't going to make any knee jerk decision with Ken Hamlin.

Keeping or letting him go next off-season will depend on how he plays, how the other Hamlin plays and any other moves we make at the position during free agency and the draft.

I know this, I'd be working Alan Ball some at FS just in case... And to send a little message. Hey, he did work there some in preseason.

Actually, I think Ball would be really good at that. He works hard off the field, he's got the speed and the ranginess, and he always plays with great effort. Meaning, he'll tackle.

He needs a wake up call. I can't believe he watches his game film and says "I don't need to work on anything"

Yet he makes the same dumb mistakes EVERY game and doesn't get better. What's going on?

I think he's the worst regular player we have on the team.

Honestly I wish they'd start giving Watkins reps on defense again. At least in preseason it looked like he had range and would make a play on the ball. Maybe he isnt an everydown safety, but at least on passing downs. Although even Watkins tackled better in preseason than Hamlin does currently.

Too bad that the only way to get the guy in your sig would be to tank the season or give up our entire draft...

Patrick Watkins played out of his mind in the pre-season finale and solidified his spot on the roster.

The questions with Watkins have surrounded recognition and tackling.

Too Tall couldn't be trusted to read his offensive keys and be in the correct position following the snap or to use proper form when attempting to bring down an opposing player.

Has Watkins progressed? Can he be trusted as a deep safety in the nickel and dime?
